Me, for one. The body armor, specialty grenades, and yes, even the refined GL, will still make it worthwhile. The only people hurt by this change are the ones who can't aim.

Incidentally - the improvements to the G3 will keep me pretty interested, too. I love that gun, but have always been frustrated by its weak medium to long range performance.

I'll still play Assault. I've loved that class since day one and will stick with it GL or no GL.

        ||bfa||variable, I totally agree with you about it only affecting the people who can't aim

I didn't say you said that, hehehe, sorry for confusing you.

You have commented on the first 2 issues, GL in mid-air fix, and minimum arming distance fix.
But you didn't comment on the 3rd fix, the "GL Reduced Splash Radius", i want to hear what a fellow assault player has to say about said.

And here is the part from the dice interview i was reffering to :
"The grenade launcher was designed to give the assault soldier increased ability to fight against vehicles; however it is ever increasingly being used against infantry. We didn’t want to lose this ability, but it is necessary to limit its usefulness against the infantry."
(didn't want to lose this ability = the ability to fight against light vehicles)

Exactly I'd rather play medics and heal myself after a fight, or spec forces with c4, or support so i don't need to reload. The only reason for assault was the GL which I used to good effect to pop a few newbie campers and steal their vehicles.

In my few experiences as infantry, I never had a problem with "noob tubers", "bunny hoppers" or "dolphin divers." I got most of my kills catching people off guard by taking weird paths to their base. Most of these noobs always stay in areas of high congestion so to beat them you just take the roundabout way and pick em off from the side or behind.

I think you are mis-reading that too.

They're acknowledging that it was being used too much against infantry and wanted to fix that without completely removing said ability to kill infantry.

Nothing worse than turning a corner and seeing someone hopping towards you just to be blown up as they hop away. ****es me off that they can't fight me with a gun in a proper fashion.

I think the changes are fine. I have begun using the assualt kit much more recently and find that I really only use the GL for distance and harrasing type shots. I'm fine with using a gun to kill someone toe to toe. The blast radius decrease kind of sucks, but will reward those with skill and hopefully rid some of the GL spammers.

One thing bothers me though. For the normal, die-hard assaulter they get their GL nerfed because of the noobtuber. And then if we need the GL for a vehicle for instance we get a disadvantage. That sucks man

I think they should have just removed the jump shot ability and made it so it was impossible to hurt yourself with the GL. Meaning, any shot that went off close enough to hurt you just bounced away harmlessly. Takes out close up toobing while leaving it effective.

Re: What do assault players think of GL nerfs ?

If EA does not think the GL is an anti personnel weapon they obviously did little to no research for this game; But that was already evident.
If you think it shouldn’t be used in this role there is little hope for you.

Blaming the GL for a lack of tactics and teamwork is childish and you better be happy they gave us worthless support guns that can’t be used effectively as intended in there design.
These are probably the same people that keep spawning at the same capped spawn when they have three other spawns close by.

If they want to set a Min arming distance that would be cool and realistic.

Can't aim? Hell, many people who use GL can aim, I too, but what do you do with GL now? Its like shooting one slow insta-kill shot. which will miss when shooting an moving target, which happens to be only thing that you encounter in bf2.

And don't say G3 is a solution. You can't/don't use unlocks in matches.

Eh. Nothing we can do now as assaulters but step up to the plate. If EA is going to strictly kick our kit in the nuts for being a dominate infantry aspect (...and no, I don't condonde hopping and nading) then we will just have to work around it.

Obviously. This is gunna' kinda' force me to buy SF, because now only thing assault has going for it is the flashabang. Which I have never really got my hands on.

I just find it really odd the Assault is the ONLY class being pushed in a realistic direction. The M4 Carbine is still more accurate/stable than the M16. The M249 is probably still going to be complete crap when firing from anything other than prone (which is so far off that it's almost laughable), and the sniper is still going to run the risk of losing a rifle battle to an Spec-Ops player at 150m. Am I the only one "Ja'puzzled" by this?

I found that in single-shot mode the G3 is better than some of the sniper rifles at medium to long range. I too would like to see these changes, I hope it's a larger clip I can't imagine it being more powerful or more accurate.

The GL was intended to be used against light vehicles - DICE has said this multiple times. Blast radius hardly matters if you can hit the target directly.

If you want to use it against infantry, think of it like a shotgun that shoots big slugs.

The currently large blast radius is nothing more than a set of training wheels for people who can't accurately place a grenade shot, or aren't very efficient with the rifle.

I thought so too, but there are grammer indications pointing both ways.
I guess we can't be sure of that. (plus even the AT has the "ability to kill infantry" it doesn't mean anything really)

The point is that any reduced radius makes it pretty much only useful against one person, and hitting nearly spot on (not to mention people can already dodge GL by jumping with the current radius) - i really don't see any reason for someone to use this instead of the assault rifle, where you only need to click over the person, instead of calculating the range and movement (through the time for impact) of the enemy.

Sure i got good accuracy with this thing in medium distances, but an assault rifle is pretty much better most of the times, and since 2 kits (and arguebly 3) have a better rifle we're going to see lotsa rambo medics after the patch, and trust me it aint pretty.
