As stated - I'm happy to drop a Hamilton for some new weapons and a few maps. My biggest beef is the lack integration with the regular gameplay and servers. Only time will tell us how they handle it.

I agree. If I recall, in BF42 you could run vanilla, RtoR, and SW all on one server. If a player didn't have that expansion, you got an error message and the map simply did not load.

Am I remembering that correctly?

The booster packs sound like a good idea but nowhere does it mention anything about being able to use new weapons in Vanilla or SF (Good thing? make up your own mind).

If these packs add nothing to either Vanilla or SF I wont buy them for the simple reason that SF seems to have fallen by the wayside. How many SF servers do you see, and how full are they? Will the booster packs be the same?

Another thing, patch 1.2 - is it going to be another 270Mb download if it's going to add more content to Vanilla and SF. I downloaded 1.12 and it took a while (even on a 1Mbs line), I think I'll just wait till next months computer mags and get it from a coverdisk if I bother at all. Tell me if I'm wrong on this - if I dont install the patch I wont be able to join servers who have?

I bought BF2 because it looked like a great game. before the expansion came out it appeared to be reasonably well coded game, granted it had a few bugs but how many games come out that dont? My game runs well until I play SF then it gets a bit jerky in certain situations, it's still playable though and I think I must be one of the lucky few who this has happened to.

The mod community are the way forward in my opinion, and some of the mods look very interesting. The main reason I say this is that the modders cant ruin the code that's already there (DIce & EA can and more than likely will). I've NEVER installed a mod for a game before but object to this "booster pack" style of updating and shall seriously consider modding BF2

If I wanted to play The Sims I'd go out and buy it then kill myself.

Oh and if you are going to buy it, £5.99 is about the right price.

You wont be able to join ranked servers as they have to update to the latest ones, its part of the agreement.

I wonder what the 2 new unlocks will be for the sniper and AT kits.

My hopes.

1.) A silenced sniper rifle. It would have a medium range and accuracy because of the sub-sonic rounds but would be as quiet as a nats fart.

2.) Steyr Aug (spelling?) Its such an awesome looking gun.

I have to agree with you there. When I restage my system - I want some kind of gaurantee that I can reinstall it without a problem. I bought SF for this very reason.

I can understand the download of a booster though. Quantity of what is being released does not justify the cost of putting out a CD with all the other crap that adds into the media packaging.

Plus they can ship it out quicker - rather than waiting on manufacture time.

Hell - put one out every few months or so and I am game.

If you are playing this [American] game to hear authentic accents from some other country then YOU need to GET A LIFE!

The purpose of the game was NOT to authentically reinact accents and languages.

In the large scheme of things, if a few brits decide not to buy it because the brits in the games sound like idiots then EA is probably gonna get more out of the laughs they get out of your stupidity, than they would out of your 10$.

hmmmmmmm i like the new things on this second patch details, specially the grenade launcher fix.

also like the idea of the mines are no longer exploded by grenades and there is a faster way of picking them up. except for the thing about jump&shoot thing,i think this patch will do alot of good :rock: .

Sounds fine to me, but I have some questions....

Will it integrate with the existing game or be yet ANOTHER game which requires a different server (a la SF)?

If it just adds maps to to vanilla BF2, those who don't buy the game are going to be screwed once a server rotates around to that map....?

Are we to assume that the 1.2 patch should hit before or at the same time as this like what happened with SF?

I don't mind more content, but there is already a severe lack of server support for SF because of it being a standalone game essentially. To make these booster packs as standalone games would be completely stupid and I would seriously question the intellect of those at EA who are making the calls.

It's only $10, but if I don't feel like picking it up for a bit, I don't feel like getting booted off a server because I don't have the map which is being played. At the same time, having to run different a completely different server for a 3 map rotation will kill it before it ever gets off the ground.

Listen up EA!! Make some maps, updates, mods, and patches for the current game and give them to the people for free that have already paid $50 for it. If you really want to make these expansion packs, make them worthwhile (SF is good in my opinion) and people can decide if they want to buy into those or not.

we have to pay for them? That really really sucks. Especially considering that the new weapons will probably be useable in normal bf2 and so not having the booster packs will put you at a disadvantage.

This really says it all about EA's attitude to be honest.

I bought SF for instance and now i NEVER play it i play vannila bf2 usually wake island simply because SF was a rip off nothing really knew its as if they thought 'how can we make more money? i know we'll just chuck a couple os tiny things in and charge for it'.

Call me synical but i bet this is the same thing.

ok, this booster packs are not necessary to buy but you will have worse weapons right?

but, WHAT ABOUT OUR MODS? i.e. forgotten hope mod... should i/we need to have all those booster packs in order to play it?

Thats good news for the ones that have credit and debit cards, but for those who only have cash its not good.

So not good for those who are like myself that dont have cards and are kids . so unlike SF you cant go and buy the pack in shops.

so only the rich and spoilt will have access.:evil:
