    Euroforce booster pack coming?

Battlefield 2 Booster Packs and Patch Update

    Community Bulletin – January 11, 2005

Hello everyone and a Happy New Year to all of you.

Today we have some big announcements that we’re excited to share with you! First of all, news about 2 new booster packs that will expand the battlefields of Battlefield 2: Battlefield 2: Euro Force and Battlefield 2: Armored Fury.

Euro Force will be released on February 8th and sees the introduction of the all-new European Army in 3 new maps. Each Euro soldier will come equipped with a new primary weapon, from the FNP90 to the Benelli Tactical Shotgun. There will also be 4 new vehicles, including the (in)famous Eurofighter.
The 3 maps are "Operation Smoke Screen", "The Great Wall of China and "Taraba Quarry".

Armored Fury will be released on March 28th and the focus is on large mechanized battles, harking back to the El Alamein style maps on BF1942. There will be 3 new maps – "Midnight Sun", "Operation Harvest" and "Operation Road Rage" – but also 2 new vehicle classes. Attack Jets and Recon Helicopters, which can spot nearby enemy units, will make their debut.

Both packs will be available exclusively online at www.downloader.ea.com at £5.99.

As well as these booster packs, we are of course still utterly devoted to providing updates to Battlefield 2. We can’t say it enough; thank you all for your support and dedication! Update 1.2 is currently undergoing public beta testing and will be released very soon. As with the first list, this second list includes confirmed fixes only:

    - Server search filters now work properly
    - All mines (Claymore, Anti-vehicle, C4) can now be picked up by the same class that dropped it by using the "G" key.
    - Mines can no longer be destroyed with other explosives
    - Flash bang effect radius decreased
    - Added unlocks for Sniper and AT kits
    - Fixed a bug in terrain rendering with night vision, whereby terrain was still dark in dark areas.
    - Fixed a bug whereby mods that are not bf2 or not xpack permutate shaders every time a level is loaded.
    - Fixed a bug whereby non-xpack mods cannot use xpack shaders.
    - Fixed bug in TV guided missiles of Havoc helicopter
    - Bug in MP7 fire rate fixed. Ammo count increased and mag count and damage decreased
    - APC Update – "Chinese and MEC APCs can now shoot through penetrable materials". This fix was a miscommunication to the patch team. Chinese and MEC APC’s have been reverted and the LAV25 now no longer shoots through penetrable materials.
    - Vehicles no longer disappear when viewed from some vehicles with a HUD (e.g. Tanks).
    - Performance gain found in static mesh rendering.
    - Detonation radius from grenade launcher explosions has been reduced.
    - Grenade launcher projectiles now have a minimum time before arming.

This is a list of confirmed fixes only – we are still looking at others that we hope to be able to announce soon. As always, thanks for your support and keep talking – we’re listening.

What do you guys think of that?

we have to pay for them? That really really sucks. Especially considering that the new weapons will probably be useable in normal bf2 and so not having the booster packs will put you at a disadvantage.

This really says it all about EA's attitude to be honest.

I bought SF for instance and now i NEVER play it i play vannila bf2 usually wake island simply because SF was a rip off nothing really knew its as if they thought 'how can we make more money? i know we'll just chuck a couple os tiny things in and charge for it'.

Call me synical but i bet this is the same thing.

Great Wall of China sounds cool!

        - All mines (Claymore, Anti-vehicle, C4) can now be picked up by the same class that dropped it by using the "G" key.

I guess this means ANYONE?? can pick them up if they are the same class? Or does this mean only the person that dropped them can pick them back up?

        - Mines can no longer be destroyed with other explosives

        Hurrah! More team Kills

Grenade launcher projectiles now have a minimum time before arming

Oh dang, This is going to change some things....No more single shot kill noob tubers!!

Overall it look like they are headed in the right direction, and I will be excited to see how the gameplay is in these new "booster packs"

Sounds more promising than the expansion, at least.

I still wish they'd figure out a way to include the new content in the old maps/game. I'm tired of BF2 spawning off a bunch of mututally exclusive mini-games.

Well I'm impressed at the pric of the booster pack. And the patch looks better than it did 4 weeks ago also.

The fact that an enemy spec-ops will be able to pick up any C4 around a flag before it goes neutral will change gameplay a little too.

                  DICE :salute:

Great job! I will be buying both booster packs, I don't care what all the pessimistic moaners on here say, they both sound like a lot of fun.

Seems to make sense that you can now pick up mines/claymores/C4 by pressing 'G', just like picking up the grapple hook and zip line. That improves the current situation greatly, engineers waste time in what seems like an eternity "fixing" a mine with the wrench to pick it up.

What was wrong with the MP7? Damage too high?! Was it? Rate of fire, slowed I presume?

                  No more noobtoob!!

although 3 maps is less than i expected.

I take it that you can only get the booster packs on-line. In which case, it seems a bit pricey. I mean, 3 maps !!!!

                            - All mines (Claymore, Anti-vehicle, C4) can now be picked up by the same class that dropped it by using the "G" key.
If that means anyone, then its crap. I dont want anyone else picking up my well paced c4, esp, not the enemy. Thats just silly. If an enemy ops picks up my c4, then I expect some kind of time limit to do it.

As a proud noober. I only hope they have tested this timing issue well. 10m should do it. Im saying this cos of vehicles.

                              Re: Euroforce booster pack coming?

Originally, I intended to buy them Boosters, BECAUSE:

                              - I would have new content usable in Vanilla as well (I don't own SF)
                              - I would give them my money thus encourage them to continue in supporting BF2
                              - I thought it would be map/weapon/vehicle oriented in the way that the Vanilla core and aspect of the game would remain dominant

Now, I changed my mind, BECAUSE:

                              - I don't have an option to buy it via Internet (well, maybe yes, but...)
                              - Seems to me that it will create a lot of compatibility mess between Vanilla, SF, EF & AF
                              - Seems to me like a community split-up thing, server side and map rotation confusing thing

Last but not least I don't want the gaming industry to go the way of WoW (monthly fees) or BF2 (expansions, boosters) although I think both games RULE! I mean, how many games do you have currently installed? And how many are to follow? Me, I got about 5, it's a nice relaxation for me to play sometimes but having monthly fees or the like would have searching me for different (and healthier) relaxation methods (not that I don't have money).

Anyways these were my feelings, feel free to flame me for having them. My wish for the BF2 community - EA/Dice please don't tell them Ranked servers to have a rotation of maps from ALL 4 expansion, thank you.

Great news about them fixed bugs BTW, thumbs up DICE!
