Man... I think you need some friends... To play BF2 with, teamwork is always one of the most pleasant things in the game - when you can keep it together with a squad, everything comes together so well, it's like being a part of a symphony orchestra- playing a vital part of something thats so big and f***ing awesome... it not only blows you away, but everyone else around you (in the case of BF2- you'll blow opponents away... literally :p).

If you play to make your team lose- well, what can I say? you're a loser. You're a seasoned veteran of BF2- people would respect you for that. If you go about screwing with those who respect you so- then... well, I don't think I'll bother.

Heh heh, right on- I doubt anyone is in BF2 for a massive bout of scissors, paper, rock.

Sure, aircraft hold an advantage- but anyone on foot who has the smarts about them - can easily deal with them. Teamwork wins battles- not just aircraft making bombing runs and helicopters camping spawn points.

I totally agree! If planes or helis would have to land on the airbase to resupply and repair it would solve the problem. The resupplying and repairing should should take about as much time as for infantry or vehicles standing near a supply create. This would solve the problem. And for pilots the landing and resupplying might even be fun, I think!

I just hope the patch will fix the many bugs and extreme lagging and performance problems in SF especially. I haven´t played BF2 much since 1.12 because it´s no fun anymore. Especially SF...

              I concur!

AND! I reckon... if EA can spare the effort- make the BlackHawk's miniguns prone to jamming! (actually, are they? I'd expect them not to, but what the hey! for those silly spawn campers who are really enjoying themselves minigunning unsuspecting spawners).

At that point you'd see people take off expend their ammo, fly back dive at the ground and parachute towards the hanger where their newly reloaded and re-spawned plane would shorly apear. In far less time than landing, taxi-ing and lining back up for take off.

Respawning of the plane would have to take longer than resupplying it, of course. On the other hand If people would do so the chance that another player will get the plane next time could stop them

Well... simple- another way to curb the air-power problem... add a little realism! I mean... how long DOES it take for a jet fighter or a helicopter to be assembled? just make the vehicle spawn take LONGER! simple

Totally agree re map packs. It's desperately needed, however also agree that jets are the cancer of the game and AA is totally pointless. You're more likely to watch the missile fly off in a different direction and strike a team vehicle than it go anywhere near the enemy plane you are directly looking at and apparently have lock on.

One possible fix is to have much much better AA (that actually heads towards aircraft it has lock on), but give the pilot a much faster reloading time of flares. They take forever in a plane. That way, if he's quick and lucky, he'll be ok, else he's history.

(Also, to help the pilots a bit, maybe a different alarm in the plane if a missile has actually been lauched... then he'll know when to deploy flares, however if someone else also has lock on him, or the first person has held off with a couple of rockets, then he's toast)

A while ago, I thought the "shine had gone" too...

... and still do. I play far less now than I used to. However, it is still a good game and still gets me back to play now and again.

As many before, I have to agree that the AA sucks. I wouldn't particually say that the airpower is too strong, just the ability to counteract it is insufficient. I still enjoy the game now as much as ever. I am not a pilot and have no intention of being one. Why bother when there are already twenty odd other players queing up in the hope that someone gets shot down or crashes. I like being infantry. I'm not great at it, but i find it much more fun running around and trying to gun people down. I don't really care if the aircraft/heli's go around and dominate. I'll try and take them down when I can, but I like to concentrate on trying to take/defend bases. If I get killed, so what, I'll be back in 15 secs and if my team loses a map, so what, there'll be another along very shortly. I pretty much choose to ignore the stats. If I was to worry about them, half my fun would be gone. Maybe, some of the people complaining about too much air power really mean it's ruining their stats and they aren't happy about it. Stop worrying about your stats, go out there, play teamwork, have some fun and make your kills.
