And this is why I only play on city maps. Any time I ever try to play normal maps I die within like 30 seconds after each spawn from bombings and helis.

          You totally misinterpreted my post.

I'm saying that using reality as an excuse for sh1tty in-game AA is weaksauce. That's it.

I agree with the original post, and i hate aircrafts and play exclusivly on city maps. (shame, since i really like flying them)

But i don't think people will give up this game for good just because of the aviatorwhores, we got 2 nice mods worked on, an upcoming patch, and 2 expansion packs (SF wasn't an expansion pack, it was just a mod) coming up.

Knight_Yellow : that's nightwatch man, i love that movie (can't wait for the sequel) :)

Re: Why many people are quitting BF2 for good -- it's not fun anymore

I read every single post in this topic in the past hour. And let me tell you guys this, you take this game so seriously. If you think about it, it's just a game. It's supposed to make you laugh and smile. Planes are powered, so what? Get a logitech 3D pro, and start practicing and stop complaining. Do this until they are fixed, if they are not fixed, fine, just throw away your BF2 cd, everyone is happy.

I was watching Band of Brothers with the Battle of Bulge episode. I seriously advise you guys to watch it. You realize what war does to people, which isn't the point here, and i don't like doing philosophy. Anyways, my point is this:

First of all i am a hard core gamer. I have been playing games for the past 15 years non stop. But after watching that episode, i just closed my eyes for 10 seconds, and imagined how we, all of us, looked like from outside. And you know how i felt? I laughed...

You can call it technology, you can call it the 21st century making everyone individualized people, you can call it life becoming competitive and hostile therefore people too, whatever you call it, we are all missing the point. Look at the definition of the word "game". We should just MOVE ALONG, that's what we need to do.

I am lucky i am going to college (senior year) and i don't find as much time as i used to for BF2. Because i realize after every time i play BF2, my adrenalin and stress level raises amazingly, i sweat like hell, i smoke too much, and i get hostile towards people. That's just not cool.:)

I am not saying we should all quit playing or blow each other up in the game with C4 packs just to have fun, of course not. We just need to accept the fact that we loose, we can not stand a chance against planes, we will NOT, that's it. That's what they are called Fighter jets. They WILL burn you out, they WILL blow you up, they WILL get the points. If you wanna keep up, as i said, stop complaining, get a joystick, it'll take you at most 1 week to get good at it.

This is a WAR game guys, its not unreal tournament. In war, planes will bomb, blow, burn soldiers. They are not immortal, and don't give me "this is an arcade game, it needs to be balanced", well i call that a BS.

We live in a capitalist, unforgiving, competitive world, nothing is balanced. And it will NEVER be balanced.

You think EA will just make it so that you ll have at least 50% of shooting down a JSF jet with a crappy AA? You guys have any idea what an actually F-35B is? Forget about the stinger rockets, you can't even shoot them down with the 25 year old F-15s.

If you are looking for a balanced game play where everyone uses a rifle and equality comes first instead of the epiction of war, then this game isn't for you. And trust me by complaining about these things you cause arguments, get angry yourself, make the other guys angry, this results in the entire BF2 community become hostile towards each other when playing and there you have the kick votes, admin abuse, bans, kicks, etc.

                My 2 cents...

I especially like how you start off by saying that its just a game, then go on to give this wonderful line (which seems to indicate your rather morbid view of the world rather than anything to do with a computer game), as well as letting us know what a real plane does.

I agree, this thread is a serious joke. Its just full of people complaining, however the thread dealing with people suggestions of the airpower in the next patch is altogether a lot more sensible (as I mentioned). It is full of posts from people who can actually take a step back and realise that this game can be fun for a higher percentage of people by toning down or adding certain elements (which if you read the upcoming patch ideas), you will notice rather than the harsh capitalist battlefield of BF2, DICE are actually trying to balance all of the elements of the game.

As I said in my earlier posts, this is a game that has been designed so that everyone has a chance and where some skill does count. However I’m sure as you have agreed that airpower is at the point where it is very easy to get a lot of kills because there are no effective counters. That’s what we are trying to get across.

Yes its a game, yes it should be played for fun. But as the originator of this thread started saying, one or two balance issues are causing that element to wane for a lot of people.

I reallly don't get what the big deal is. in the real world jets and helicopters DO own ground units. why else would the US pay millions of dollars for EACH JET and millions more to train each pilot? try comparing how much money and training goes into each pilot compared to some grunt on the ground... of course jets are more effective against ground units.

secondly, jets CAN turn faster than missiles. that's how a lot of pilots evade getting hit in real life, by out turning them. to make missiles turn as well as a fighter jet is just unrealistic.

it's true that the AA system is broken in the game... where are the Radar guided SAMs (surface to air missiles)? those things can track better than heat seeking stingers and won't veer off and hit friendly. i think the major air maps should have at least one SAM site...

that why i was looking into this modern warfare mod thing as some things are done so poorly by the dev-team. I know its a game but lets have a game we respect what it does. Hitting a tank round at a helo and the helo simply turning and saying what was that and flying off or killing the tank is pish.

Sniper shots that would kill do nothing
i like the planes and helo's and can rack up massive scores but even i would like to have to land and take time to re-load and fix.and the armour is out by some way. even a black hawk can take some beating. if they could make soft spots like the pilots area that would be good.

all the dev team need to do is take a good look at that mod, its what most players want.

The point you're missing is that on a 64 player map, it is reasonable to expect 64 players to be able to enjoy the game and compete. All this talk about how jets are supposed to be more powerful misses the essential point: this is not a game intended to be enjoyed by 4 people up in the air.

If the airdales want to bomb the **** out of people on the ground they should stick to single player. The other 60 of us on that map would like to engage each other in combat. That said, city maps like Karkland are not as fun as the other maps could be without the air element. I think it's fair to say that the air element is another dimension that many of us want in the game. We want to be nervous about that helo coming in. We want to be up tight about a jet making a pass. But we dont want to be up against a vehicle that cant be taken down. (Insert the obvious "but you CAN take it down" statement here...if so, you're still missing the point).

An all ground BF2 would not be as fun. In the same vein, just because we have little boats out there to add another dimension, the entire game is not handicapped with the inclusion of those little boats. Air should be another dimension -- not the primary vehicle to run for precisely and only because it's invincible.

I think a lot there is a clear divide of people here. There are the people that only fly planes, who clearly think there is nothing wrong. There are the misguided people like Futile who state things like "I reallly don't get what the big deal is. in the real world...", not realising this is an arcade game. The last kind of person, like "Boojie" understand that there is a bit of a balance issue with airpower (although I think this is really only planes).

I don't know about the rest of the people but it gets annoying when people get wrapped up too much in airpower and don't want a proper fight. Bit like Mashtur City with the BH, i'm sure people must enjoy fighting on the ground knowing thatits an even fight and can go either way.
