will it affect gameplay much by lowering the hit points of jets? not likely. surface-to-air and air-to-air missles are extremely easy to evade.

All in all, I don't think this will do a darn thing about the planes. Either that, or it's going to be yet another thing EA/DICE doesn't think through and screw something up really bad in the balance. Bottom line is: complainers getting owned by planes will continue complaining, because they're still going to stand there and stare at planes bomb them time and time again without even trying to do anything about it.
Yeah, I'm sure going to be able to dodge 5 bombs, each with blast radius of 4 bricks of c4 put in a nice litte diamond in the .5 seconds they are in the air when "teh 1337 dive bombz0r!!!!1" comes in for a swoop.

Slow the jets? wtf - hell no. Less bombs? Are you nuts? its 2 and 5 - how can you go less?
1 and 3, do the math. 2 is not the lowest number physically possible to reach.

Just improve the tracking of the AA and all is settled.
You can't improve you're skill with AA if the missle is doing the tracking, and once a pilot can avoid them, he'll become indestructible again.

And honestly people, TRY shooting at a jet with bullets. You'd swear the thing can fly faster than bullets.

Here's my main point: reducing hit points won't help because no one is hitting jets in the first place.

I great way to fix all the aircraft problems would be to make them 100% the same as their real life models and jack the AA up to reality stranderds.

Actually the ones in chopper have about 1 second to react.. because

Point Zero : Your chopper gets hit by two rockets.. you are on flames and will die in 4 seconds

1 second(s): If you did press E before this your life is saved, if you leave after 1 seconds of impact following happens

2 seconds: You pressed E just after 1 second of impact.. you are now next to your chopper

3 seconds: You drink your tea, and you finally start falling away from your chopper

4 seconds : You are 1-2 meters away from the chopper, it explodes and the explosion takes you..

Ok, but still why are they given the chance? YOu can't bail from a chopper in real life (yes I know, nothing to do with a game), an for balance sake shouldn't the AT guys be rewarded with a kill for their good shooting?

These are my thoughts from a "plane whore". The first thing that needs to be done is the j10 needs to be nerfed to the level of the other fighters, if they don't do this it won't suprise me if once they increase the aa's effectiveness the j10 will still be able to dodge them while the others will get hit every time.

What i would like to see is some kind of damage system, where as you take damage certain things won't work anymore and the plane becomes harder to fly. The reason for this is because no one in a jet generally cares about their health untill the alert sounds, people constantly fly around with less than 50% armor and still doing strafing runs on bases. With this as soon as they take a hit from a missile or something else the plane becomes harder to fly forcing pilots to return to base.

As for the comment about the engine not being to handle the aa missiles being able to hit, go check the mod forum i think on the first page someone has modded them to be able to hit 90% of the time no matter what you do.

glad to see im not the only one that feels this way ...

i would like to see a better balance of the power.. in other threads ive seen suggested a anti-tank class with handheld stingers... and a balancing of the effectiveness of the AA weapons.

aircraft should and will always have a high degree of skill and as such im not opposed to them having some perks over the standard grunt, but bringing it more in real world standards would be nice... but personally all i would like to see is more of a balance so the grunt soldier might actually have a chance against these flying beasts, :)

they should leave them alone and make AA much better, like faster reloads.

No ammount of tweaking is gonna "fix" air balance if people don't shoot at 'em!

Yes, air to air is 1 to 1, but if you're actually looking for enemy planes to shoot down while they are focused on getting huge ground kills, you should be able to take 'em every time.

AA even in it's broken state, does work. If every AA emplacement is active, the enemy's airforce is gonna spend a lot more time dancing to avoid incomming missiles and less time blowing the frug outta ya.

If people would use mobile AA as mobile AA instead of trying to take out tanks or rushing infantry positions, they would be a much more powerful assset. Unfortunatly, they suffer greatly from error code "Identity Ten-T".

Blackhawks are not invunerable... but no-one shoots at 'em! Get 3 guys together, got BH hunting on Mash. Use .50 cal and AT rockets. Your 3 guys can knock out their 6 man BH. That's a good return on your manpower investment. Oh yeah, don't forget to SPOT the frugger! Not using the spot feature costs lives.

Right now choppers rule any map in bf2. They can kill almost anything on the battlefield even jets if your good enough. They can cap flags aswell. They are the single most deadly weapon on the battlefield. I remember back in P.O.E one certain tank shell would take out a chopper and with the new patch I hope you can take out a chopper with one shot by a tank. And I really think they should make a hand held stinger missle instead of inplacements. Right now the emplacements are way too easy to take out. P.O.E is going to have handheld stingers, which is why it will be an awesome mod. www.pointofexistence.com

Killing bombers is easy with F-18/J-10. As soon as they are target fixated and lined up on their attack run, they are dead easy to shoot down.

Most of the time I make more kills in the fighter than the bomber because everyone is obsessed with getting the bomber because they think they will get more kills in it. The fighter makes mince meat of them, you get 2 kills for each bomber, usually, and you can attack choppers, too.

Odd double post... meh, i'll add, the the MIG-29 is great too, and the 2 bombs you get on the fighters work ok, I suppose, but I just use bombing mode to sneak up on enemy jets.

Oh I think reducing the hitpoints will help a great deal-
Once I can take down jetfighters with a single shot from my silenced pistol, I'll be happy. Just lead by a few lightyears, MUST BE POSSIBLE.

If they can't make the airpower stoppable by one man(on the ground) at a fair rate then they should pull the bombs off the jets imo.
I'm so looking forward to seeing whatever we get with this next patch. rant MF better not let us down. /rant

I'd be happier if the air assets had penetrable armor to all heavy weapons.

Maybe it would just be easier if the pilots dies before the plane gets to 100% demolished.
That would make things better than they are now. Mobile AA could then use their cannons effectively. It's not too hard to hit a jet with them now. I can get 1 or 2 hits in most of the time (with mobile AA). The problem is that it takes far far too many hits to down the plane.

I have no simple solution to stationary/missile AA. Those things are hopelessly lost if they continue to follow poor paths & require direct hits.
