This didnt seem to help my lag issue much but everything started loading faster. The verifying time is usually around 10 to 15 seconds sometimes less. Maybe once or twice a month it takes longer but then its like 30 to 40 seconds. Since it doesnt cost any money to do this I would try this first. Good Luck. . . . . . .Red
I did this recently too. No loading improvements, but desktop icons appear quickly on startup and etc. You have 3GB physical memory plus a 4GB page file giving you 7GB of memory to windows. That's way more than you need, as you shouldn't be running 7GB worth of programs. I would lower it back down to something reasonable, but do not TURN IT OFF. If you go to tweakguides.com, there are some good guides referring to page files.

I'm not stating it as fact. It just seems improbable that it's Ok with EA to run ranked servers that way.
Then you weren't paying attention to the subtle yet obvious reason why they don't have Pure Mode running. For starts.... don't use a third party server browser (ASE or anything else) to see what I am seeing, fire up your BF2 game and use the in game server browser, take a fine look at the 'Ranked' servers not running in 'Pure' mode and then look at the icons sitting to the left of it, then tell me if you notice anything different.

As I said, it is and isn't an option for server admins. In an indirect way, it depends on where you rent your server from, and you'll understand that more if you actually look at what I am trying to point out without me having to spell it on a chalk board for everyone

Which is why I say that it is 'shame on you EA-Dice' for doing that.

No sense in having anything paged to the hard drive with that much RAM. Why not image your hard drive so you have a reliable backup, and then lose the page file completely?

I have also noticed that Linux servers have short verify. I am not sure if they also didn't have the Battlerecorder enabled ("green tv thingy", I think).

You have not read a thing I have posted up in here, have you? That green tv monitor icon IS NOT BATTLERECORDER. Anyone who has played BF42 or BFV will tell you that is the icon used to represent content checking. You know how else I know, because our damn server does not have battlerecorder running and we have that icon displayed in the server browser, I'm the bastard that sets that server up and I know for a fact it isn't running on our server because it isn't checked. If you'd have read the whole five pages of this thread and did the simple test I told everyone to do to prove that it indeed is the mark of 'Pure Mode', you and everyone else would know this by now.

Yes, it will still say 'Verifying' crap even though it isn't, your computer automatically goes to that graphic right after map load, then when it realizes it doesn't have to check your sh*t it will then send you on your merry way.

verifyinh client data depends on your cpu power.
I have a friend with a nice Athlon 4400. he is always the first to login in most games.
I have athlon 4000. when I used to overclock it it took significantly lower time to load

So they don't verify on Linux and 64 bit Windows. I still don't understand why, though. You needn't be an impatient smartass, either. Why not just post what you have to say, rather than be arrogant about it?

                        Re: Verifying Client Data Fix

I was merely trying to get you guys to look for yourselves. I pointed out how to check to see that the server was not running in Pure mode and what that icon actually meant, did any of you do it and reply back? No. Asked you to take a look for yourself and see if you can notice any similarities between things in the server browser, anyone do it and reply back? No. It is easier for everyone to just assume than to actually take 5 minutes and look for themselves I suppose.

Same thing I saw with the one shot tank kills, everyone was so bent on there being this uber precise location you had to hit, even after I dropped enough hints on to why it works. Only difference there, I had about 20 people reply and call me nuts or just kept on assuming it was a certain pin prick sized spot. I had to actually make a video to get the point across because people just could not look outside what they were told.

Don't take this the wrong way, but it just floors me on how much bad advice and misinformation floats around these boards on alot of things. Not that anyone does it with bad intentions, it just comes from people assuming more than anything.

Now, on to the Linux and 64 bit part.

The 64 bit, I am assuming maybe it just doesn't work on 64 and would require a third server install option, something they just didn't feel like working on yet or didn't think there would be a great enough demand to warrant the extra work. Overall, I don't think there is any reason the regular win install of BF2 server cannot run Pure on a 64 bit server.

Linux, I have no idea why they would do that, why go through all the trouble to make all the files for a server install on that OS and not put the finishing touch on it. Lazyness maybe, or maybe it has it but it is broke.

There is one linux server in that whole bunch that does have it working. So that means they are either using something like WINE, virtual windows or they took it upon themselves to make it work on Unix (much like UT99). Would be nice if they posted on this board how they got it working for those that are into using nix boxes due to the fact they have a lower overhead than Win.

Overall, I feel that the nix and 64 bit servers have Pure on them, but it is broke for some reason and EA-Dice has just either not fixed it or they don't want to fix it. It really is a shame as it makes it very easy to introduce cheats into this game the old school way. EA-Dice preach about how they want the game played a certain way by putting alot of restrictions on how you can run a ranked server and resetting accounts if you get caught stat padding, but they leave a big door open for other exploits.

I don't think it's CPU power, my cousins and friends verify in seconds every time and server, their processors are in the .2ghz difference of mine, so I don't think it's a CPU thing.

Apparently, the 64 symbol means the server is running 64 bit Linux. This page also confirms that the green monitor means content checking is enabled on the server:

Hard drive speed has the biggest impact on the verify process.

Then it is completely a Linux issue. Again, shame on EA-Dice for not implementing, or fixing Pure mode on the nix OS.

See, I'm not so nuts after all when I said the green monitor was for Pure Mode
