Well that's just brilliant! Thanks for posting, Anzen!!!!!!!:|:

Perhaps the owner of the thread can update the original post with the newest info so that we won't be plagued with responses from every a$$hat in the free world that doesn't bother to read through more than 5 posts.....

      So let me summarize this...

Keys to fast load times and overall good performance...

      Update your dot net framework
Have a decent high wattage PSU
      10k rpm HDDs best
Pagefile on a different physical HDD then BF2 and or Windows
      2 gigs of ram
      A defragged HDD
Minimum 15% free space (this is also needed to perform the above)

These not only sound like good performance boosters for BF2 but for your machine in general...So basically if you have a decent machine and you keep up with maintenance on it you should be alright...

And perhaps having BF2 installed on a different physical drive then your windows installation and your page file might boost performance even more...

The original poster NEVER seems to come back and update their original post to prevent readers from having to plow through 15 pages of Bull$hit to get to the meat of the topic, (especially when it's Alm()nd J()y, because he's only trolling for content for his own webpage, and doesn't give a $hit about how these forums look.)

The Punkbuster update mentioned in the original post does not impact the verification process in any way. BF2 itself is performing the MD5 hash checks on your game files, via MD5 hash checks. Not convinced? Check with Evenbalance or punksbusted.com. I've confirmed it.

Join Linux or Linux 64 bit servers if you have a major problem with verification. (Like 5+ minutes to verify) These servers have NO verification enabled, and show the "penguin" or "64" symbol in the server browser.

Perfect example of how most people are full of $hit, even though they've done "research":

I tested it with 512ram, on a server with a ping of 114 with battlerecorder, average time was approx 2mins. Same ram, same ping, full server without batlerecorder, 10secs on average. I think thats it, all Dice needs to do is figure out why, and do we really need recorders running on the servers?"
Battlerecorder doesn't have Jack $hit to do with the verification process. Period.

          Prove me wrong.

I've been saying that far longer than anyone on this board and I still see it pop up all the time. Nobody bothers to read through the thread before posting their **** about it.

As for the PSU, it will make a difference if your comp needs 500w and you are only giving it 350w, I guarantee it. If you don't believe me, I have a 350w power supply in my junk drawer that you can use that on your next pc build, let me know how it works on a nice high end system.

Sortry, I don't have time to read thru 8 pages of postings, but........

I've noticed that whenever I get on a server that has a ping below 20, it verifies the client rather quickly, I would say less than 10 seconds. And above that takes like 30 seconds or more. Just an observation.

Agree, If you have a slow computer, and verifying takes a long time, it will ruin the game for me , because i will never have the plane :-(

BUT i have a fast computer muhahhahaaaaaa

                            It's so weird.

Usually it takes forever for me to verify. But sometimes it takes as little as 10 seconds (rare) and on ranked servers.

                            It's so picky.

Close it because people are complaining about having to read through 8 pages to get the right info and the OP isn't coming around to fix what he wrote in the first post. Just trying to keep things cleaned up.

I can leave it open, but seems better to me to have correct info in the first post.
