    Re: Verifying Client Data Fix

I run RAID 0 on a few SATA 150's I see no change in the verifying data. I usually am among the first to load into the game.

I think that the game is written the way it is and once you max out the hardware specs there will still be a wait.

How long does it take you, then? How much RAM, and do you use a paging file on the drives? I'm considering adding another Raptor in RAID 0.

OK, I recently finished building a friends computer and here's both of our's specs:

        Me:
        P4 3ghz
        1 gig pc3200 ddr (2 x 512)
        6600gt AGP 128mb
        ASUS P4S800E-Deluxe
        40gig ATA 133 Hard drive
        48x CD drive

        5 minutes to verify

        Him:
        AMD 64 3500+
        1.5 gigs pc 3200 (3 x 512)
        7800gt PCI-E x16 256mb
MSI K8N Neo4-F Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 ATX AMD Motherboard
        80gig ATA 100 Hard drive
        48x CD drive/16x DVD

        5 - 25 seconds to verify

Takes 15 - 25 seconds for me to verify with only 1GB ram and usually one of the first in the server. best way i've found of speeding it up is setting your pagefile to be on a different logical drive to what BF2 is installed on. Even putting it on a new partition might help.

wow thats a long loading time ...
            my specs.................
            amd sempron 2.600+
            1280 gig ram ddr400
            40gig ide 133 hd x 2
            geforce 6600gt AGP

            load times 1min 30-45 secs

dont take this the wrong way but do u defrag u hardrive regulary(i.e once a week)i tryed this tip and it worked for me.........
            1.defrag hd
            2.unistall bf2
            3defrag again.
            4.reinstall bf2
            5.defrag one more time
6.defrag once a week(recomends doing it 4 times to compress it that little bit more)
that makes a differnce of about 30 seconds when i 1st did the above 6 steps.and cant stress how important it is to defrag.......
check this a m8 of mine never defrag his 160 hd and was getting a host of problems it took 3 days to et to 97% now that should tell u somthing.
look after ur pc keep it clean and cool and defraged.
p.s this was nothing personal im sure most ppl no this but alot dont so this is for everyone to try at least once and see if u can get an improvment.
i make a lot of custom pc for alot of ppl and also fix alot and the most ppl hardly eva defrag!!!

also for ppl whith super pwer pc and super high end gfx cards may i add this to the topic.if u got say amd64 4000 and 2 gig ram fastest hd on the planet and a gf 7800gtx or 2 in sli-mode aving all these specs looks good on paper but in reality they could be out performed by lesser equipment if DONT HAVE A MINIMUM OF 500WATTS IN YOURE POWERSUPPLY,cus when u prosseser and gfx card need power it just simply isnt there, any one with 350watt should be aving long loading times and i recomend u get a 500+power supply

                  Re: Verifying Client Data Fix

I've noticed some people talking about ways to increase system performance which may help with this verifying client data issue. So here are a few that may help.

Pagefile - Make sure the initial & maximum size are the same so that windows does not change it dynamically. This should also stop the pagefile from being fragmented.

Also for best performance, place the pagefile on a different physical disk to the windows installation. Failing that, try putting it on a different partition to the windows installation.

NTFS - By default, XP updates the Last Accessed timestamp everytime a file/directory is accessed. In my opinion this is not needed for non-business machines. It can be disabled by opening Regedit, going here HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Filesystem and setting NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate to 1. If NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate does not exist then add a new DWORD value, call it NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate and set the value to 1. (Note that this may affect backup and restore programs, I don't use them so I don't care).

Services - You should disable (or set to manual) any service that you don't use. Everyone is different so you'll need to investigate yourself (use google) but services like Messenger and Remote Registry should be disabled IMO. Another example is that I don't have a printer so Print Spooler is disabled on my machine.

Apologies if these have been posted else where but I'm lazy :p

I just bought a new hardrive with an 8mb cache and my verifying client data is alot faster now.

so when my game ranking get high (which isnt rush cus i got a kid) my point wil become GOOD ENOUGH to view and be comented on farly..hmmm... does some one think this game is real or somthing rank doesnt mean anything.

I always thought the speed of the verification depended on your connection.
                              Mine SUCKS
I am getting a new connection eventually so it should get better.

I think what he is trying to say is that if you don't have enough juice behind your PC, it will bog down. And that is reasonable to assume if your trying to run a higher end pc on a 350w or less ps. Especially if your video card is asking for a bare minimum of 300w and you are running two cd/dvd/cdr drives, two harddrives, 3-4 cooling fans and other goodies. Each one of those components takes juice to run, and if you don't have enough to go around, your comp will be a bit slower than normal. Not to mention, alot of power supplies sometimes only put out around 80% of what they state on the box for juice.

Personally, with todays video cards, I don't know why anyone would buy anything less than at least 450w or more in a ps from a solid manufacturer.
