"As far as verifiying, the Battlerecorder is the solution, I have no doubts and have done a bit of reseach on it. It doesn't matter how many people are in the server or the amount of ram. I tested it with 512ram, on a server with a ping of 114 with battlerecorder, average time was approx 2mins. Same ram, same ping, full server without batlerecorder, 10secs on average. I think thats it, all Dice needs to do is figure out why, and do we really need recorders running on the servers?"
Yes, a 10,000 RPM hard drive will not only speed up the verify process, but many other aspects of computing. Program load times, anti-virus scans, defrag, windows startup, map loading times, etc.
This may be stating the obvious, or not, but make sure when you guys are testing this, you are testing it on servers with Pure Mode (content check) enabled.
Servers without the little monitor looking icon are not running in Pure, even though you get the message for a split second, your comp is not getting checked.
Go to any server without that icon, and you will just have to go through the map loading procedure and that is it. Go to any server with that icon, and you will have to go through Pure Mode. Anyone that has played BF42 or BFV should already know this, as that is the same icon used in all previous BF games to signify Pure Mode enabled.
Easy way to test this, for those that doubt me:
1) Go to ...BF2\mods\bf2
2) Make a back up copy of init.con
3) Edit your init.con and save
4) Join a server with that icon and get kicked for modified content
5) Join a server without that icon and you can keep playing
6) Put your original init.con file back in the game
Thing is, you want to play on servers with Pure running, even though it takes a bit of time, it makes up for what PB does not do. PB only scans what is loaded into memory (I've got a statement from a PB guy on this a while back because I used to help run a league), so that leaves Pure Mode to scan the files and make sure no dill-hole tries to manually edit his game files.
I doubt ranked servers even have an option when it comes to pure mode. I'd bet they all run pure. Also, any server admin worth salt will have the MD5 tool set up to do hash checks on any and all relevant game files. So, punkbuster, correctly configured, does indeed check files in the game folder.
i haven't noticed any results "myself" between pure and unpure servers. what i did notice is how servers with green cpu usage have bout 2 sec. verifying client data time.

They do and they don't. Look at the servers that aren't running Pure (no green monitor icon) and then look at what else they all have in common in the icon catagory in the server browser.
Like I said, don't believe me, just do the simple steps that I stated in the previous post and see for yourself. It's simple to do, just try it out, not being sarcastic, seriously.
You are right on one thing though, any server admin with actual access to their own box, should have PB MD5 running on some of the main files that can be abused (objects.zip for starts).
I see that some ranked servers don't report pure status. I just took a look at ASE, setting the filters to "pure" and "ranked". 333 of 361 servers that are ranked, are running pure. My point is, that I doubt that running a server unpure is an "option" for ranked servers under the TOS. That doesn't rule out inept server admins who have their game configured improperly, though. I'm not stating it as fact. It just seems improbable that it's Ok with EA to run ranked servers that way.
I have a SATA drive and 3 gig of ram. Recently I was trying to deal with a lag issue and maxed (raised it anyway) out my page file, max is something like 4098 mb (its set at the highest setting I can set it at) and min is 2048 mb. This didnt seem to help my lag issue much but everything started loading faster. The verifying time is usually around 10 to 15 seconds sometimes less. Maybe once or twice a month it takes longer but then its like 30 to 40 seconds. Since it doesnt cost any money to do this I would try this first. Good Luck. . . . . . .Red
