i just got as far as i have ever, i updaed my psu by 7% set the desktop settings to 800 x 600
and i got all the way to the jon server screen, i tried jioning a game, and it crashed again...

sigh.

on restarting it, it crashes even before the EA splash screen..

theres gotta be something i'm missing...

I have the same bloody problem... I jus got myself a Leadtek 6600GT together wid my BF2 4 days ago and it restarted my pc.. thinking it was a problem wid my PSU because it was only 250W, I went out again today n got myself a new one wid 420W and still my pc restarts.. I'm feeling really down and frustrated.. Could it be an issue of overheating? I hope we can fix it soon... Man the money I spent for all these crap.....

hi guys read all suggrestions and im sorry none of them worked so im gona ask a few noobish q's and then a few suggestion myself.

1.load up youre cpu when ur on youre desktop to a ctrl.alt.del when taskmanager loads click prossess and tell me how many are running

2.then click the performance tab and at the very bottom it should say prosses /cpu usage/comit charge plz give me the results of those so i can comment further on them.thanks

3.how mucth memory have you got (i.e 1gig ram)and how many fans dvd/cd players and perfrals you have in youre pc (sound cards lan cards ect.

those things can give me a good basis on you rig and help to come to a faster conclusion(as i found a few in my time and if i no for sure ill tell ya)

Did you get that info while Battlefield 2 was open or at your desktop? (Were you running anything like a scan ?)

sorry to say this but 40 is very high .so is youre commit charge very high.
and youre cpu id using 100% when ur on the desktop.
you comet charge should be 128-180ish

basacaly to me it sounds like you have spyware sucking youre power or you just running to mutch.

there is no way you can even consider playing bf2 if youre cpu is using 100%

but the main cause for you game not running is 100%cpu ,it should be 0 when ur not doing anything.
you also need to tone down youre prosses 40 will use alot of ram and u dont have a lot as it is.

dont think its the end of the world cus of youre problem,we have all been there.just av a good read on the link and you should find alot of helpfull tips.good luck.

if possible could you give me a list of youre 40 prossess and if i spot a nasty ill ask u to terminate it.one of them is hoging youre cpu power.

do a ctrl.alt.del and tell me (click prosseses)the image name cpu usage and memory use on each one and ill try and spot the one thats using 100.

nps m8,now i can eliminate that from being the problem.
now i need youre spec
motherboard type,
grafix card make(ati or nvidia)also if its agp or pci-e
ram type (and total)
psu type(max power in watts and amp plz
how many cd/dvd roms u have+hardrive(1 or 2)
and anything else u use in youre pc.then i will add to this reply with some more info.

i realy need a list of youre prosses too (i belive one or two of them could be the problem)
get me them asap.and i can continu helping.

I'm on an Intel P4 2.00GHZ, says here the model is D845EPT2, an old one.
Leadtek Winfast 6600GT, agp.
2x256mb of ram which makes a total of 512mb.
psu is 420W tho i don't know abt amps.
1 dvd rom
2 hdd. 20gb + 80gb.

I'm getting really fed up with not being able to play. Normally I would just assume that the problem is because my computer isn't too great, but BF2 was working perfectly for a couple of months before this started happening. Haven't been able to get on a map at all today, that's out of about 15 tries.
