bf2 restarting my pc

hey guys,
i hope you can help me,
i got BF2 for xmas and i've installed it fine today, (even though a few weeks ago i installed the demo and it did the same thing)

but when i click on play BF2 online it starts to load, i get a black screen
a few monitor clicks then it restarts my machine. i'm baffeled as to what i can do to six this? has any one had the same issue?
heres my PC specs
AMD ATH 2500+
1G ram
XFX 6600GT 128MB AGP
8MB 80G WD HD (45G free)
i have the latest drivers for my card and motherboard..
any ideas guys?

U know what, I have the exact same problem... I thought it was just my new power unit failing...
Does it just randomly cut off while loading a game, and just restart your computer again?

Make sure your RAM is getting enough voltage by checking it in the BIOS. I had something similar happen to me and that turned out to be the problem.

update: i updated to the latest patch, it restarted on me once, then i got it going, i got my account registered then it crashed on me again. i dont have any emulation, or firewall softare going either.

how do i know what i should be looking for on the ram voltage thing? i dont wanna fry my ram,

i checked the bios earlier and everything was set to normal, i am using an antec 480W true power - power supply.

any ideas on this ram suggestion?
or other things i can do to get this game going ?

For the RAM, first set to it to "Auto" or however your mobo manufacturer decides to state "stock voltage" if it isn't set there already. Then try BF2. If you still have problems, go back in and boost it by one setting (typically .05 volts. example: 2.70 to 2.75) and try again. If it persists, bump it up one more.

Then if that hasn't helped, set it back down to it's stock voltage because that's not your trouble.

What type of RAM is it, btw? If it's, say, Corsair Value RAM without a heatspreader on it, I wouldn't recommend playing with the voltage at all.

since my last post, it;s crashed twice,

i havent done this ram thing that hedgehog has suggested, i realyl don't know what to look for or anything, what menu it is?

can some one help me out ?

Hmm... standard generic RAM. It's got a heatspreader on it, right? If you could check and make sure that it's not just bare chips, that'd be better. If it's just bare chips, adjusting the voltage may be a bad idea since they could overheat.

If I knew what your your mobo was I could give you more specific directions on how to get to the memory voltages. If you know how to get to the BIOS, look around in the menus until you see a screen with data on it like "CPU Voltage" "RAM Voltage" "RAM Timings" "AGP Frequency" the mhz rating of your CPU, and other such things.

In order to adjust the RAM voltage, it may require that you enable "advanced user controls" or something of that nature. I'd be surprised if it did, though, they generally give you free range of voltage settings.

i've had alook around the bios and i can't see anything like that

for the record my m/b is a gigabyte GA7N400 PRO 2

in the voltage menu theres these options
VCORE
DIMM
AGP

You want DIMM, that's the RAM settings. It stands for dual in-line memory module.

no luck,
i changed it +.1 and +.2 thats as high as it would let me go.

the game still restarted my machine.

Try upping your paging file in control settings> system>advanced>Performance settings>advance> paging file
Try making the initial and max bigger by about 500 -1000.
Also in your bf2 folder, try removing the starting video files.
Also try finding your video.con file of BF2, which contains video settings, and try setting your desktop resolution to the one found in the file.
