Yeah, almost looks like some weird form of splash damage with many splashes. Probably another example of poor codeing. Anyway for the time being you will see a lot of tanks just sitting around not being used because of this. Ive already been wondering why some people have been chooseing the APC's instead of a Tank when they are almost side by side in some locations. I guess this answers that question.....Red

Redrider, I don't agree. The vast majority of BF2 players don't know about this. Even if you do know about it it is extremely rare to get a hit like that.

And you can get one shot kills on APC's also. I'd rather be in a tank, at least in a tank, you can fight back, and APC stands very little chance against even some of the worst tank drivers.

If EA wanted to fix this, they would probably have to change the models. Either make the gap between the tanks hull and turret smaller so a projectile could not get between it, or make the projectile wider to get the same effect. I am going to guess that they won't fix it.

Or alter the ricochet computation on the projectile. The engine supports ricochet computations, I just don't know all the commands to alter them.

That's what's on the current M1A2 projectile in BF2, so maybe you could just remove that component?

That is quite possible. Would have to test it out by modding the files, I could probably do that tomorrow, CST here, so I am up pretty late. If you have icq, we could hook up for some farting around with that.

I've never looked at that part of the coding before, so I don't have an idea how it affects things. But when in doubt, go extreme one way and see what it does, if it doesn't give you the desired results, you probably went the wrong way lol.

Ya, APCs rarely ever win against tanks unless they can get behind them and launch a missile at the back treads. APCs are very weak compared to tanks. But in real life, 1 tank shot would totally destroy an APC. As all their armor is is thin aluminum, or welded steel.

I'm sure he does, I have only 16 hours in armor. Which is sad, because I know what to do and apparently you don't, otherwise you wouldn't be acting like I kicked sand in your crotch over this. I don't have to be the best in the world to have an understanding for the game engine that you seemingly do not have.

I am sure Kraxx is better than me, good for him. There are about three people in my clan that are ten times better than me also, and they better be, they sit in a tank more than I do. Probably the same reason I am better than 99% of my clan members in a plane, I sit in one more than they do, and have been doing it since BF42-DC-BFV.

This isn't a discussion about how good I am, you are or Kraxx is, this is about a weakspot that you obviously did not know until now. If your gonna post something in a thread, post something relevant to the topic. That is about as relevant to the topic as me posting that I am better than Kraxx in a jet in a discussion about heat seeking missiles, it isn't, it is just plain stupid. Seeing as we are talking stupid, let's put some perspective in on this, I spend as much time in a jet as he does in a tank, and that is not a joke.

It took me less than 15 minutes to figure out the 'why' of making that shot, and that is even funnier yet when you put that into the 16 hours of tanking I have lol.

If you are going to engage yourself in a conversation that basically deals with the game engine, try to know something about it, or at least be open minded and try to learn something from it.

edit: actually calling it a 'weakspot' threw most people off. In fact, as you so kindly proved eventually, it is simply one kind of shot, and not some weak spot, that people should try out.

And yes, everyone calling it a weakspot did have them all ****ed up. Nobody wanted to believe me, and that is fine. I just found it humouring that everyone was looking for this pencil sized fatality blow and was trying to hint to them to look outside of BF42 thinking for weakspots, and nobody could seem to grasp that, being right in the end makes me an @sshole? lmao.

U want to know the funny thing, i was in STrike yesterday, about 3 hrs after i posted the video And gues what. i was in the T-90 going agenst the M1A2 and i got a total of 3 1 shot 1 kills in that round. They called me a hacker more the once and started a vote kick and i did get kicked. Just shows how many people know about this and the fact that i was lucky and getting thse shots lol.
