In addition with the poor engine that this game is built on plus the plethora of hackers out there - I decided that it's absolutely silly to dump so much money for this silly game (although I love it!).

    Scar,

This hits close to home...I just spent $325 for a new VisionTek X850 XT Platinum Edition on ebay and $244 for 2 GB Corsair XPS dual-channel memory to improve my BF2 gameplay experience. Was it worth it? To me, yes. Not just for this game but CoD2 and all the other games coming down the pike. If you're a one-game PC gamer it wouldn't be worth it.

Hell, F.E.A.R. runs brilliantly for me - it only lags when I max everything out to ridiculous resolutions - which most cards cant support in FEAR anyways.
it's you. I don't lag in BF2 at all, although I do lag in FEAR.

OK, if I were you I would dedicate approximately 2hours/day and learn how to read and write. Can you form a sentence?

        How about properly spelling "probably"?

Anyway, don't trash talk if you can't talk.

        PEACE

          Are you sure about that?

I think the open-source modded OS for the original xbox can surf the net.

Don't quote me on it, but I think that's what my friend has instead of a PC/DVD player for his entertainment system.

Agreed. Consoles are for lil kiddies who don't know how to use computers.

And also adults and teens with little PC knowledge. Remember that all of this video driver, patching, tweaking, AA, AF stuff is jubberish to a ton of people. Some of them would rather just 1. Turn On 2. Insert Game 3. Play

Now it is our job to find these people and get them hooked on PC gaming!

I was playing COD2 at Best Buy on Xbox360 and I thought it blew chunks for sure.

The frame rate is not as good. If it is, then it's not because it's more powerful (which it clearly isn't) its because whoever programmed it was not nearly as lazy as dice.

Keyboard and mouse will always be superior over gamepad for shooters, but even if 360 had a keyboard and mouse it would be pointless because you'd then need to sit at a desk and what good is that for a console? Nintendo's Revolution motion control makes much more sense to me for FPS style games. I picture that method becoming popular. Hopefully PS4 (I'm not fond of the gamepads) will have all the right features to actually make me a console believer.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not committed to a decision yet. However, my PC is old and ill now (boot.ini corrupt don't know if it's hardware or software related) and probably needs to be replaced. So I'm seriously considering getting a decent upgrade with some nice trimmings. I'm an equity derivatives analyst so I need a PC with good graphics capability. So I'll dish out for something that my son and I can both enjoy. Thanks for all the great discussion and opinions - appreciated them all.

                            Cheers!

Any console can never compare to all the things a PC can offer...
Yes, at times, a PC can have slight performance issues, but there are so many more pluses to a PC.

                              PC's all the way!!!

Btw, that's gonna mean somethin got screwed up in your windows folder. I guess you could call it hardware related. boot.ini has to do with the settings of the startup launch of your computer. (many desktop editors now support the changing of the themes and other things). You might be able to find the default boot.ini on the net and just replace (I think its in your /Windows/System32 folder) and if not, probably just reinstall Windows.
