Re: Possible BF2 SF / 1.12 Performance Fix

Sounds too me like it has nothing to do with Intel Boards or Nvidia Graphics Cards. I've read through most of these "FPS/LAG" related threads, and most of the AMD/ASUS/ASIS whatevers have the majority of the problems. I hope this helps....

I've used them before but you lose EAX support

not only that but Microsoft and EA will sue you for hacking Windows and BF2 respectively!

But he said 'self-made' i wanted to know what he made :).

Anyways, im pretty sure its not sound drivers as far as windows is concerned - if you disable your soundcard altogether the performance doesn't increase.

I'm playing with a few other things too, no luck changing PCI latencies.

Yeah, I tried PCI latencies a while back. I do have my graphics card set to 64 as it is an AGP model

my experienece was ... I only got the SF yesterday .. so after installing it .. I started the game and tried .. first round .. laggy .. second round not laggy @ all .. (ghost town) next one was the attack on essex map .. It seemed that it needed to cache the map textures or whatever it was doing .. cause the first time I went into a boat .. it was laggy .. the second time it was smooth .. hmm .. got no clue .. will test some more .. and I did not change anything in configs, drivers .. or sth.

                machine I'm using:
                AMD 64 3000+, 1G Ram, Asus MB, 6600 GT, high, 1024 * 768, 2x AA

                bye

Re: Possible BF2 SF / 1.12 Performance Fix

I'm having serious stuttering on SF and BF2 since installing SF and 1.12, but oddly only in the last 2-3 days (Friday and Saturday seemed fine). After about a minute of joining the server with loads of stuttering I get a "Your connection to the server has been lost" error and I'm thrown back to the menu. I thought I was alone until I found out that three other guys in my team have the same problem.

My machine spec is as follows:

OS: Windows XP Professional 32bit Edition
Motherboard: ASUS A8N-SLi Deluxe (BIOS 10.15)
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 4800+ X2 Dual Core
                      Video: 2 x Geforce 7800GTX 128MB (NVidia 81.95)
                      RAM: 2GB Corsair PC3200 DDR
                      Audio: Audigy 2 something, something
                      HD: 300GB SATA Maxtor 6L300S0 7200 RPM
                      Broadband: 2Mbit ADSL (testing fine)

All my drivers are bang upto date. So, from all the different specs being affected here I think we can determine that its not a configuration issue but is wholey in the game. I can play Americas Army on full graphical settings on a 32 player server in the US and get zero stuttering or lag, so it must be in BF2 itself.

This is very disapointing. I take it that EA are just ignoring the issue ?

i did what you said with vid settings it helped a lil, then i rolled back to 81.84, which make 4xaa look like 8xaa, i jumped into a 40v40 server with my ping at 205, and still no studder

Re: Possible BF2 SF / 1.12 Performance Fix

Changed my video settings to 1024x768, 2x AA (was 1280x1024, 4xAA), everything else on high, and fps went from 25-40 fps in SF Maps to about 55-70 fps. On regular BF2 went from 45-50 fps, to 70-90 fps.

Did not really notice any visual difference in graphic quality, but game play was a huge increase in performance. After the change the difference in the SF Maps was amazing, and there maps are all that I play. Hope this helps!

How did you "roll back" to 81.84 Can you explain the process ? Did you uninstall the driver set or simply reinstall 81.84 over the top. I'm currently on 81.95

I just noticed that my video settings for BF2-SF were down at 800x600 with everything set at Med, must have happened during installation. I have now jumped them back up to High for everything with 2xAA and at 1280x1024 for the TFT (I thought it looked a little odd). Lets see what that does!
