Anybody who can't kill a US jet with the equivilant counterpart for either MEC or PLA is hopeless.

The Mig turns better than the JSF and the F18 also. It's actually pretty frickin ridiculous that EA did not give the US jets some kind of equalizer in the settings of the jets, like maybe making the US jets faster with a longer burn in order to give you some kind of advantage for the tighter turning that the opposing team has.

Actually EA did give JSF much more armor than any other jet.

not that it helped much, being able to take fire for 30sec longer than other jets dosnt make killing it any harder.

Yah, that isn't much of an equalizer when it is easier to keep to the inside of it's turn for the other jets lol.

          Cyborg Evo

          or

          Logitech® Force™ 3D

actually it has a 500 round capacity where as the j-10 has what....200..? which goes down faster. the usmc jet has its gun mounted straight in front also, where as the j-10 has it mounted on the left side. i think the usmc jet (F35-b or JSF...whatever you guys call it) is a more effective A2G (air-to-ground) killing machine.

The double amount of rounds on the JSF doesn't mean too much when you can't keep to the inside of the opposing teams fighter jet when there is a good pilot in it. And it is 600 for the JSF, 300 for the J10 and Mig.

About the armor being better, I landed a fresh JSF and a fresh J10 by a chinese tank, hopped in the second position and counted off the rounds that I shot right underneath the cockpit, both take 20 shots. Took a JSF and put it by a MEC tank, same thing 20 rounds for the JSF. Same thing for the Mig. The bodies of the jets all have the same material ID all the way around except for the wheels, which all share the same material ID for that particular part.

The auto cannon projectile is the same for all jets also, peeked in the objects file

              ObjectTemplate.velocity 500

              ObjectTemplate.detonation.explosionMaterial 87
              ObjectTemplate.detonation.explosionRadius 4
              ObjectTemplate.detonation.explosionForce 2.5
              ObjectTemplate.detonation.explosionDamage 100

              Material.active 87
              Material.name "Shell_20mm"
              Material.type 2
              Material.friction 1
              Material.elasticity 0
              Material.resistance 0.01

Cuz I'm bored... while I'm digging in there.. missiles are all the same for the jets, just different models is what it really comes down to.

Re: Tips for Flying/Killing/Surviving in Jets.

The problem is, they might have the same hitpoints but JSF have armor on their top side while J-10 dosnt

When the JSF is turning in circles for example, you can hit it all the time, but you are hitting the armor plate on the top of the fusalage, and it takes a damn long to kill it that way. When you are shooting a J10 on the other hand any hit will translate into direct damage.

Same hit point, but JSF have more armor. Try to your experiment when shooting the top of the fusalge, I can assure you the difference is pretty big (althougt not that helpful)

By the way, I think something everyone should know:
Do not day dream of ever dog fighting a J-10 in a JSF, its impossible, if you know better you will just avoid it or fly to the Chinese base and steal their jet. Anyone who trys to kill a J10 with a JSF is automatically a noob, period. Its one thing to try, its another to wish for any result. If a J10 pilot gets shot down by a JSF, he proberbly suck so much yu would do your team a favor by leaving him in the air so pilot who can actually fly cant use it.

Re: Tips for Flying/Killing/Surviving in Jets.

This is the only material ID's for the JSF:

                  ObjectTemplate.mapMaterial 0 Airplane 32
                  ObjectTemplate.mapMaterial 1 Glass_vehicle 1006
                  ObjectTemplate.mapMaterial 2 wreck 60
                  ObjectTemplate.mapMaterial 3 Rubber 102
                  ObjectTemplate.mapMaterial 4 Rubber 102

I did run the test again, as you had suggested, same thing. Twenty rounds to the back end of the jet above the back part of the engine. Then I thought, maybe the doors for the VTOL engine where causing an issue, and tried it out in that spot, twenty rounds.

I speak from experience, not from numbers :p

Maybe the stats are the same, the J10's entire fusalage is a weakpoint while JSF's weakpoint is only located on the tailpipe.

All I know is, if Im shooting my canon at a J10 and I hit him, he will start to smoke immediately, regardless of where I hit him (theres not a lot to hit to begin with, perhaps this is why), but if I hit a JSF's upper body it does little to no damage.

nm what I wrote about the glass if you read it, it makes no difference, so I deleted that.

Personally, I don't seem to experience this behaviour when I am flying. All I really do is dogfight nowdays because I am pretty bored with bombing, and I really don't seem to recall having to lay on the trigger any longer than any other jet.

exactly. when im in a F35 and they have a J10 pilot who has the similar skills as mine, i usually try to avoid dogfighting against him. even sometimes i know the J10 doesnt see me when im at a high altitude. i see it flying by below me i just leave it alone. its same as bomber vs fighter. unless the opponent pilot is totally an idiot. yes i've seen quite a few. i shoot them down.

I have a joystick, tried using it and ended up doing horrible as far as flying a jet. I don't know why but I fly better using a mouse and keyboard, probobly cause I used it for planes in bf1942 and jets in bfv. I think its alot easier and more effictive, a joystick or analog stick is personal preferance. In most cases bf2 gamers perform better with joysticks when flying a jet or chopper, but not me.

i tried using the mouse but its just too slow of a reaction and it takes too much time to turn and stuff...if u havent tried yet u should take a shot at using the arrows of your keyboard...they work for me anyways. But if u can get a joystick by all means use it, its way easier that the arrows

i get in dogfights all the time with J-10's. i lose them by flying at like 800 mph (flying all around the map like crazy) and dont call me a noob, because i DO try to kill J-10's....but the thing is, i dont try, i DO kill them. why does everyone call it the JSF anyways..? its an F35-B.

an i am TIRED of people saying the J-10 is so much better than the F35-B. they are really almost equal. i kill J-10s all the time, and no i am not playing against noobs or whatever. almost every time i see someone in a jet on the chinese, they are sergeant majors. its just that i know how to fly. if im looking to kill a nother jet that im sick of, i just fly at around like 600 ft. and then when i see them i follow them for a little and then at the right time (when im really close) i just let off like 4-5 missles, and they die.

dont call me a noob for going after J-10's. apparently if you think its that hard...well...

and seriously guys... im tired of hearing things like "i wish the F35-B was a fair match for the J-10" the people that say this, are also the same people that call the greande launcher a "noobtube".

but seriously... what you said... that is just stupid.

I would not be able to touch a good pilot in a J10, I can take them out of the game by engaging but if they've got any sense they'd lose the USMC plane no probs.

I've never met anyone that could avoid getting shot down eventually flying the F35.
