    Tips for Flying/Killing/Surviving in Jets.

these are some things i do while in a jet.. they normally keep me alive and rack up points.

What i do, if someone is chasing me, i do EVERY evading technique i know (providing this guy is actually a good pilot and can keep up with me.) i first do hard left/right turn, then do maybe a backflip and then spin at the top of it, so i am facing the ground, afterburner towards the ground, pull up HARD so i am going straight up, do a spiral motion straight upwards (so you arent going straight.. so he cant kill you) and try to get REALLY high (i mean like 1500+ ft.)....BUT, during that whole duration, make sure you are in the middle of the map, and heading straight upwards so you dont fly out of bounds. NOW....once you lose control..... IMMEDIATELY..shut the engines off. wait until you get down to about 800ft to take back off.

now, by this time, the other guy either lost control... and died...or he got back down and figured he would just leave because you are a waste of time. if he is still around, make sure not to use any afterburner. when you see him... nail the afterburners and get on his ass...and by get on his ass... i mean it (like 5ft-10ft away), and stay in bombing mode. now (do this really fast), switch to air to air missles, and fire a burst of 3-4 missles...and bam... he is dead. but when you are following him, make sure he is going straight, and looks like he will keep going straight. (best time is when he is bombing a target.)

i know i sound crazy going through this much trouble to kill a plane, but if you are like me, you would rather waste a min. of time, then have to die, and try to get the jet again. (all of this occurs in about a min.... so it isnt that long.)

as for the cannons, these are WAY underrated (for people that arent that great in jets... they think they suck). these things can take out a tank in about 4 seconds, a heli in 4 seconds (unless you hit the cockpit, then its 1 sec.), you kill a car in 1 sec, and you kill AA and boats on contact (basically instant).

another awesome things with jets (you need to have REALLY good judgement of the plane, and have alot of experience to pull this off), is plane swooping i guess you would call it. the best place to do this is on carriers and airfields. know the common waiting places for vehicles (wake would be the jet and attack heli) and get as close to the ground as possible, and road kill everyone. you have no idea how effective this is if you dont crash. you dont waste any ammo, and you get like 5 kills on every swoop... people will do anything for their vehicles.... even if it means standing still tapping E, watching you fly at them.... and they keep tapping E...and then BAM... you get a bunch of kills... and the idiots are whores.... so they go back and do the same thing.

bombs are self explanitory... just get some experience with them and you will eventually learn to use them. one thing, if you have a joystick that has a hat on it, make the top position be the cockpit view, down switch fire modes, right looks behind, and left is 3rd person. this is an awesome configuration. ALWAYS look behind after you drop bombs when you are learning, so you can improve.

the thing i do MOST OF THE TIME, fly around in bomb mode, and wait for the little green square targets to come up. when you see one, start opening up fire in the dead center of that square (with the cannons) and make sure you dont "spray" but AIM, and you will get a kill.....maybe more than one. sometimes you have to keep the firing going until you about 10-20ft from the object, but hey, that is the most common time the final kill actually occurs.

the time to spray, is when you go up to around 500 ft, coming down on an approx. 20-30 degree angle downwards, just SPRAY (shoot very randomly in a general direction) at an enemy base that you can predict has alot of enemies. you normally get at least one kill every time you attempt this.

now... i know most of this stuff sounds easy, but in the game when it comes down to it, it is very hard to actually apply all of this to an actual game because there are a million things going on at once. but if you eliminate all enemy jets in your area and stay alive and follow my tips, and you arent a complete idiot... you are almost guaranteed a gold medal. good luck.

The roadkilling on a deck can be fairly easy counterd with AT rockets or c4 placed on the deck.

      how vital is a joystick?

i have been using mouse and keyboard but its clear to see when getting into dogfights that i cannot compete. is there any tips for sticking with a mouse and keyboard or do i "have" to make the upgrade? and if so what makes of joystick are reccomended?

Haha.. Yeah it seems like people forget about me when I fly really high, and I usually forget them when they do it too.

Once I get them off my back, I just go back to supporting the rest of the team.

Oh, and for the record, the cannons are AWESOME. I only use missles as a backup. The cannons will waste anything in the air or ground, and if you know how to use them, they'll do it faster than a missle can.

yeah, they can, with the exception of blowing up other jets with the method i put up there.

and IMO, killing heli's with missles are hard for me, unless i lock on and start slowing down (to the point where i am almost falling) but io wait untill the flares drop and then just release like 3 missles. but even then... too much work. so i just aim the cannons at the cockpit and it goes right through the glass killing at least one person inside (most always you kill both because it blows up most of the time).

What I meant is, assuming you're actually hitting them with the cannon fire, you can usually take 'em down quicker than trying to get a missle to hit 'em. :)

Cannons are the most underrated weapon on the plane. I usually just waste APC's and Mobile/Stationary AA with the cannons, then just kinda spam the bombs onto the enemy CP. If you can nail an APC with cannons, and still have your bombs left, its usually a guaranteed 3-4 kills.

its losers like you who I hate flying against. They cant kill a jet in a fair dogfight so they stall in the air and hope they live and the other guy dies. It ****es me off when people dont kno how to fly properly.

BTW, all your moves are easily followed by a good pilot by using the F12 view. Sry bro but if i ever met u in the air, i would pwn u.

Invert loop rocks, instead of pulling the stick back when looping, push it forward, really good when you are upside down, confuses the foe.

Riiiiight. If you have any skill as a pilot, these should be your easiest kills. I'm a mediocre pilot, and I have no trouble with them.

im not much of a pilot.. but even with a mouse and keyboard the stall tactic wouldnt lose me, just do an inverted-corkscrew-loop, if that doesn't loose em...nothing will
btw: as far as i know, irl, this manuver would kill the pilot [but hey, what do i know]

you guys took it the wrong way.

I rarely use the stall tactic. When i use it, its when someone has been on my ass for like 2 minutes.

i have been trying to play games with better pilots and purposely get into dogfights with them, just to learn from them, and my mistakes.

Oh and every time i do those inverted loops, it seems like i am going too slow, or at least a larger turning radius or something weird like that.

As far as i know... there is no "proper" way to do anything in this game. if its part of the game... then what is the problem? that reminds me of people who complain about the m203's and tanks, and taking _____ out of the game.

Which view is the F12 view? (i put all my views onto my joystick hat so i don't know them by the F__ views.)

That's the way it seems sometimes, with everybody complaining so much.. It gets to the point where anything you can successfully kill someone with, they'll bitch about it and say it needs to be removed. :hmm:

I say that if it's in the game (aside from any glaring exploits.. if there are any) it's there for a reason, and either deal with it, or stop playing.

I definitely have to agree with your strategies. When I fly on the Gulf of Oman map, I get about 20-30 kills per game if not more. I've gotten to the point where no-one kills me but my own stupid mistakes. Lately, I have yet to find any other pilot to best me in game. Hopefully, if I see any of you, you can give me a run for my money! BTW great post!
