Run a server? Here's an example of how to do it RIGHT!
Re: Run a server? Here's an example of how to do it RIGHT!
Alrighty guys after much deliberation we think we will alternate between BF2 and SF each day with the server. The server setup will similiar to this.
Monday - BF2
Tuesday - SF
Wednesday - BF2
Thursday - SF
Friday- BF2
Saturday - SF
Sunday - BF2
I just wanted to get some regular guests' imput on this. We have tested it mildly and each time the server has filled regardless of whether it was running SF or plain BF2. What would you rather play more often? ...and why :)

I'm a fan :P Also, can you do my homework?
LAMO!
Analytical? Well, that's not exactly the word I'd use. :p
I just like to *think* ya know?
I know it's a skill that is rather out of fashion these days, but I just can't help myself.
As for the homework... well, maybe if it's interesting homework, I could help ya out. Otherwise, I sucked at doing my own. :p

Hehe Gimp, you of all people should know I will be doing the player count/ graph thing anyway :) At our last test it took about 5 mins longer to fill with SF running opposed to BF2.
Id still like more regulars' opinions though as to their preferences :)
Re: Run a server? Here's an example of how to do it RIGHT!
Well, my own prefirance is completely biased ATM.
I don't have SF, so I want ol standard BF2!
ATM, I'm distracted from playing much (finnally picked up HL2 and wanna play through it). When I'm done, I'll prolly pick up SF and hope hope to see more BF2 play time.
I'll chime in then as to which maps I feel are stronger.
Good to know that filling the server isn't a big issue, tho.
Don't these jerks have anything else better to do, i mean come on we shouldn't have to hold your hand.
We like to play the game also, i remember when this guy was acting like a tard on the server, hes lucky it wasn't a ban. Tolerance level is only so high when people are complaining.
When people complain, its a problem, it disrupting the game play which 95% of the people come to our server enjoy. Its not like a lame admin decision to kick you cause we wanted a vehicle or something lame.
So what there is rules and a auto language filter on, is that hard to play a game and act like a mature person?
Lets see you go out and get a dedicated 64player server and try to get the server a going and keep it agoing. If you manage to get it agoing, lets see how you like the smacktards coming in spawn camping, total disrespecting other players,TKing, and all 50 people acting like a immature smacktard like you was. We not going to pay for crap like that, if you want to go ahead.
Thanks Sevigon for closing the topic, but we needed to defend ourselfs.

How is your server running Iron Gator? I skip it on our server when ever it comes up. To much lag with 64 people on the Essex. All the other maps run fine.
Our server was full 24/7, but then we went to running SF all the time. I've noticed after the 9 am server reboot it take a long time for the server to fill.
BTW almost 2100 knife kills. SF and Ghost Town are your friend :)

Its not too bad, Ill sometimes notice a lag spike if I come across a huge number of players but I dont notice any severe difference between that and the other maps.

Maybe you should try a different reboot time? Most of the time ours will refill with the 10 /15 min mark. Of course you have some days where it takes a bit longer but on a whole its usually that time frame. Do you find the daily reboot helps any?
Oh yeh on another note, PSI, The Question(guy who wrote that other thread) obviously has a few issues after reading alot of his posts :) I wasnt even going to acknowledge his trantrum
