BUMP!

This problem really needs sorting its not on!
how have you all sorted it out? I'm now desperate having undapted PB, restroed defaults. Not bothered uninstalling or re formatting, it hasnt worked for anyone else. Again its all over other clan/communuity threads. I'm at my witts end!

Just paid for a £800 computer for nothing! (AMD 64 3200+, 512 ram, 256 ATI radeon)

Hi guys nice forum, well i have the same problem, this friday in the afternoon, i was playing in online and then my game got freeze, i did everthing update punkbuster, erase the cache and nothing, i formate my computer and god damn the problem still there, i connect to at ranked server and 5 or 10 seconds disconect me " your connection with the server has been lost" omfg but... when i play in unranked servers i dont get any problem just on ranked servers, and by the way iv been playing b2 a lot of time and this is my first problem.

Well i know that my specs are not the problem cause like i said iv been playing this game a long time with not issues.

Same problem here. My whole PC Freezes. I want to play BF2.

AMD 64 3200+
ATi x800 PCI-x
1 gig Corsair Ram

Same for me, it only started yesterday, but then i havent played BFvanilla since last week.

After a few games it just freezes. Happened twice today, once on 'verifying client data' after loading the map, and once after a game of wake, a game of songhua, then it froze up just as i spawned.

This is very odd, as i have installed nothing new, and all ive done in BF is change the view distance to 100%.

Is this some EA tactic to get us to buy SF by making BF unplayable?

Do you have any Mcafee products installed? I have them disabled when playing, but maybe they updated something?

No Mcafee here , This Sh1t started around the same time the original poster had his problems and everyone else for that matter. Its really weird but Ive never had this like this before either. Playing then the whole pc freezes.

i had this prob but all i did was reset my in game seeting to default and it works fine now

hmmmm you might have a had a variation of the problem or somthing. I tried that and got even more dissolusioned when it carrried on happening!

Ok for me it happens about 10 mins into the game, everytime i join. This never happened on the older patch, but now this patch is causing problems. My whole computer locks-up: The monitor, keyboard, mouse. It has happed to me about 6 times already. I waited this last time, and after about 3 mins it finally un-locked and went back to the BF2 login screen

But a pop up box popped up saying something about gamespy. Like error with gamespy Any ideas?

Wanted to let everyone know that I have finally fixed my “connection to server has been lost” problem and want to pass on what I did to actually fix it.

Problem – Never had problems with bf2 than one day I received the dreaded connection to server error. I could actually join a game with no noticeable lag and with great ping rates; but I was religiously kicked out of every server I joined (within 0-2 minutes) with the saying “connection to server has been lost” then being booted back to the main bf2 screen (Multiplayer, BHQ, Options, Etcetera). This happened with any server that I joined. You talk about driving a person in sane, if that wasn’t enough to do so what I went through to finally fix the problem was.

After days of troubleshooting:

* Reset my modem
* Called my cable provider
* Reformatted my drive and fresh install of XP new install of bf2
* Updated all chip drivers on my mother board
* Updated my Video Card drivers
* Reset my modem
* Flash updated my Linksys router.
* Put in a new nic card

Still same problems after all of this but I fixed it last night.

IT WAS PUNKBUSTER!

PB is to automatically update when you log into bf2 play but think there may be a glitch out there with the new 1.3 bf2 patch with some users.
After I went out to manually installed the newest versions of PB in my bf2 folder…..WAMMOOO no more connection problems.

I would troubleshoot this problem in the following order;

* Reset your modem and router (this should be done monthly anyways)

* Don’t use a wireless connection (some people have no problems with though)

* Manually update PunkBuster (»www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=dl-..) use the fix for punkbuster will not update itself.

Comes down to PB and bf2 have some problems and now if they would just admit to it and come up with a fix, I wouldn’t have been down for about a week because of a patch.

Ive reset all vid settings to defaults, and updated PB, but it still happens

Same as before, i played 2 games (1/2 hour) then it crashed on spawn again.

Tried that, I did have to update my punk buster, but it still freezes my PC after 10-15 mins. This is getting annoying.

bahh, I have no option but to use wireless:-( I'll try manual , rather than us .exe thingy! phhhhhf bloody annoying! this has been going onn for weeks!

Ok here is the deal on Why our computers freeze up...I don't know how to stop it yet.

If you are Running an AMD 64-Bit Chip non-dual Core you are most probable to have this happen to you.
It only happens when PB releases a New update, we all experience at the same time across the world.
It is nothing wrong with our computers cause we can run BF2 on non-PB servers Single players mode and other games without a problem.

That is the Why...what we need to do is find out the how and how to fix it. Last week when it happened to me 10-30-2005, PB had just updated. I tried it for 2 days solid to fix the problem With EA support, Nvidia support, HP support, and AMD support and no one could help. I stop playing for 2 days tried to get on a server on the 3rd day and I was able to play with no lockup nor problems.

It seems to me that after a few days of this problem showing up it goes away. I don't know how or why it just does. And it PB fault for the problem starting in the first place.

If anyone has any Ideas further please post cause this is Hella noob that PB is f-ing up my game play.
