Lets look at it this way:

We all have the same problem, changing anything on your pc wont help. Seeing as I havent changed not one thing since I got the game it makes no sense to all of a sudden be not working now cant be the patch as it was all fine up untill yesterday.

Its some problem someone altered something/messed something up. I demmand a fix soon or im going to kick some ass.

I am having the same problem it started this afternoon i play for about 15-20 sec. and then freezes. I also ran steam but did not play lost coast but i did play the halflife 2 demo the day before so that must be the problem. seeing that all the other posts contain something about steam. here are my specs.

AMD Athlon XP 3000+ 400MHz
768MB of OCZ RAM (one 256 other 512)
ABIT NF7S v 2.0
nvidia 6600GT

I´ve not got a 64 bit processor and its wierd how it all started up with everyone yesterday evening. It seems quite random who it affects and the fact of the matter is most gamers have got amd processors at some point I am sure someone will post who has an intel processor. Plus as for trusting the big names I bought my rig at a shop run and serviced by one man but I suppose his surname is quite long. Maybe as your a computer engineer you could be trying to find us some answers than trying to start flamming people!

I think that BF2 is a great game I just think that they need to be more carefull with these updates. Imagine if Punkbuster did a simple update and now we are all screwed. All I care about is getting BF2 working again.

The processor isn't the problem, none of us updated our processors, and we all had the game working before this issue. The only thing is that some idiot did an update in BF2 and its not working with AMD. If I was EA I would be working round the clock on this.

it is the processors.. its physical hardware u dont get updates.. bf2 has made an updates that is messed or sumthin.. either way.. dont use 64 bit processors... bf2 works fine on my barton

Let me just clarify something here, AMD processors are 64 bit ready. But we are running 32 bit, so its the same as your barton only AMD has it so its 64 bit COMPATABLE, that doesn't mean we are running 64 bit we are running the same as you with your barton. This bug is getting very very very annoying.

I'm pretty sure it is PB. Nothing changed on my system at all between BF2 working and not working. Except for the PB update which I assume got installed when I started BF2 in the evening. I can play singleplayer fine (offline) and I could play fine on a non-PB server. I'll bet my left dangly that it's PB.

I was on a Celeron 2.26 processor playing BF2 about 30 minutes ago and now when I enter a multiplayer server and join a game after the loading screen I am stuck in the screen where you select your soldier. I can't use my mouse and the keyboard won't work. This happens right when I enter the game.

I have a new problem YEAH!!! Before I could get into BF2 and it would just freeze after around 30 seconds. Now when I go to get into BF2 I can't even get into the game. YEAH!!! this sucks!!!

After playing Farcry on clanbase for a while where more games are won by Pb kicking half the members of a team at crucial points in matches and yesterday there was a pb update I´d pretty much bet on it being pb. The shame of it is that in Farcry the community put hours in trying to solve it as it seamed to affect people at random you either got kicked to death or not at all nobody could ever find a way around it. Hopefully as Battlefield is so huge this will not happen here.
Most of the Farcry community when it heard that pb was going to be on Battlefield let out a collective groan because of all the problems!!

Win XP SP2 (reinstalled a couple of days ago)
6800LE

It has never been like this before (been playing bf2 now for almost 400hrs :) )

tried reinstalling drivers but no help
