I'm not reformatting either. Guess it's no BF2 for a couple of days - arggghhhh i hate it. I want a trip down Sharqi avenue right now with my assault rifle.
Is this a Europian problem or are other continents getting it??? Could it be a server side problem (clutching at straws lol)
haha, I was just thinking the same thing (I'm British but live in the US), it's a conspiracy against all Europeans! But no, I was trying to play on US servers.
From what I can tell, Punkbuster has put out a new update that has royally screwed over about 50% of the battlefield 2 community, and I have yet to hear anything new from either EA or Punkbuster.

Version 1.212 of the PB Client for BF2 has been released to our PB Master Servers for auto-update and to our website download page. This is a maintenance release.
Okay I am having the same problems, Okay lets see what we all have in common.
-All running AMD processors
-All have had the problem happen at realativly the same time and the game worked before.
Well I'm getting really mad, I have updated all my frivers no luck, About 40 seconds for me maybe less I haven' tryed it out. If anyone finds a problem to this I hope they post it and sticky it. The wierd thing is that we all had it working!!!! But then out of the blue BAM not working. I don't care whos fault it is I just want it fixed!
I was playing BF2 Sunday afternoon in the UK and all was fine. In the middle of the game I started experiencing a wierd lag so I quit the game, it was bugging me. I was doing other stuff the rest of the afternoon but was back at about 7, when I came back on the PC to play a CS:S clan game. The Steam platform was updated. Once I finished the match I eventually went back to BF2 and that's when I had the same problem as you guys. After scouring the net all day at work for solutions I came home tonight and took out hardware and retested...same thing. Except mine lasted for 30 seconds. I even had a friend that I was talking to on TS. As soon as I clicked done after selecting a spawn, I could count to 30 and then the whole PC would hang. Sound looping. Only hard reset would bring it back.
I don't think this is relevent but my PC is...
thats what you get for trusting the big names that dont know what they are talking about and just sell u top of the line stuff for the money... ITS NOT STABLE! i am told that you are all (or most of you) are using athlon 64 processors... I am a computer engineer, and 64 bit processors are not stable, meaning they are not fully compatible with all hardware.. chances are your system was NOT set up properly to support a 64 bit proccessor.. this is most likely why bf2 is crashing...
its not just simply amd.. im running it perfectly on my PHAT amd barton.. its amd 64.. il say it again 64 BIT PROCESSORS ARE NOT STABLE!!!!... this problem may or may not be fixed in time by battlefield..
