I'd say I'm a decent pilot, but it's not about learning to fly/fight. The reason I'm not going for a jet on a public server, is because I want to avoid the Runway Party, where lamers from all around the world gather to camp, fight, whine, snipe and teamkill eachother over the jets.

No thanks, I'd rather fight on the ground.

If there's a free jet, and I'm not squad leader (normally I am though..) I do of course take it. However, this is very rare on 64-slots servers.

Either way, nobody should be forced to have to learn to fly in order to combat enemy jets. We're fortunate enough to have AA emplacements, if only they'd be fixed I'm sure things will balance out better.

It can be extremely frustrating to get bombed over and over by a jet pilot and not have any means of fighting back. I don't wanna fly. Like someone mentioned above, there's already too many people contesting for aircraft. They REALLY need to fix the AA.. Until then I just don't play maps with jets in 'em.

learning to fly the jets and fly around bombing people is not harder than being a grunt on the ground and having a freaking tank and apc come rolling along. You tell me how you would handle that, because I have many times before and actually live (but died usually lol...my characters body doesnt handle 120 mm shells very well...stupid person lol) anyway...I dont mind the jets, I hate the bombers. Nothing is more stupid than spawning just to see a jet fly over with bombs gallor, then 15 seconds later respawn only to see the same damn jet bombing you again because all it takes to reload is flying over the runway. So yes, I hate jets because it ruins the infantry experience, and I have hated the air combat in the BF series ever since vietnam. Why? Because in bf1942, you actually had to be one good pilot to shoot something down since all you had were machine guns! No 5 1000lbs bombs to drop on everyone, all you had was one or two crappy bombs that did much to nothing. I hate jets in the game because 1) nothing is more irritating than spawning just to be killed by a bomber and have it repeat many times, which happens a lot if you only have one spawn point 2) people are such babies when it comes to getting the jets. I have been Tk'd, shot, blown up, and cursed at because I got a plane first. I've even had a guy park a jeep in front of the plane so I couldnt move! 3) as of now, they are unstoppable unless you have another plane in the air.

what is worse...is when the enemy steals your one and only jet on a map. Now you are totally screwed. Anyway, that is my opinion. I know every pilot that is out there is going to whine and flame me, but I really don't care. The games challenge to me comes from the ground work, not flying in circles trying to shoot down another jet for 5 minutes or bombing and bombing and bombing. Gezz the art is bad enough in this game. I am a ground soldier, though I can fly quite well, I avoid it because someone will kill me to get the jet first, and I find it more fun to shoot someone with my gun in the game than to fly really fast and drop a bunch of bombs.

That's aside from the point that jets are horribly unbalanced, I probably shouldn't have quoted the 'touche' thing. At least read what I wrote- no need to get defensive bro.

I ve done a bit of piloting in my time in BF2 and i must say you shouldn t whine about the aircraft or AA, its you who is too bad to think of ways of grouding the aircraft. Me and my mate were absolutely owning another team using the Su-34 and mig. Guess what happened? the AA couldn t take us down so one person on the US team changed the whole game. He came along and put C4 under each aircrafts spawn on the battlefield.:cussing: :cussing: When one respawned he would blow it up just as we got in.:wall: The supply creates our commander sent down to repair arty and UAV he used to refil his c4 :shakehead and continue to bomb the arty and aircraft. With the air advantage taken away WE LOST!

but the point being, if you can get spec ops to blow up commmander assets, have someone sneak in and take out battlefield assets like jets and helis?
just a thought, anything to win.:|:

just steal their planes and they won't be able to shoot your guys down.

I too have had a couple of experiences where i cant even play for 5 seconds without some disrespectful s.o.b bombing the same base every 5 seconds and ruinging your fun. They really need to edit the effects of a jet. The ammount of bombs , how easy it is to fly , how easy it is to lock on , how easy it is to dodge AA etc. It all needs to be equal.

Right now Jet>everything in terms of how good it is in the game.

It should be much different and Jets deinfetely shouldn't go so fast.. god damn

Did this guy even read my post?!

Um. Did I say it was overpowered? Did I NOT say that becoming the best fighter pilot you can be was your only option? Did I NOT say that the balance issue lies with ground troops lack of effective AA?

I think im a great pilot and I never die unless I colide with a chopper or another Jet.

On Maps like WAKE I dont think the team with the best pilot always wins because my teams losses as much as we win.

Im a smart bomber who looks on the map before boming, so if I have no CLEAR target on the ground I go for the next best things, like the carrier. Im not just gonna stay up there and not shoot at anything I gotta help out my team even if it's shooting other jets and choppers before they take off :) .... is this bad??
