I'd say that he's skilled with the Assault Rifle.

Skill... of course its your ability to aim but also your reflexes, how fast you can determine where ur getting shot from dodging hiding even out smarting your enemy

Anyone who whines about noob tubes and such are just casual gamers, as for the competetive clan matches and such, you play to win noob tube or not

Dude as long as they are not cheating they are using what they can to there advantage. If it gets you kills and keeps you alive. People who finds things to complain about are not skilled in making connections in their brain. No offence to you directly Varible just you cant say what is skilled and not. Its if you do well and not cheat.

          Fun
I like doing what I like doing, and that doesn't include mowing soft targets down with a co-ax machinegun while sitting safely inside of a tank. Simply put, many of the actions that most players can perform (using a GL at close range, camping spawn points, etc.) aren't entertaining.

          Challenge
I like crappy odds and being the underdog because it makes my successes more gratifying. Personally, I take on the worst case scenarios, and that often rarely includes doing what everyone else can do.

          Novelty
I've played BF since 1942, and frankly, I've had my fill of a lot of things that most folks happily do in BF2 - like using armor.
Fair enough, but, again, how do you know someone who perfers victory over fun is less skilled than you?

What if I can't aim but make all the right strategic decisions? Am I skilled? I think a skilled player is someone who gets a good amount of points while helping the team and not cheating.
Your not skilled at support until you go up against me

I never said anything like that - I said that skill is the degree to which someone excels at a task/action beyond what the common BF player is capable of.

Do you guys ever read the posts you're responding to?

Wait, I can't say what skill is, but you can? I don't think you took time to understand my post at all - and I think you should. Nevermind the fact that the original poster asked us to define skill.

Variable hit the nail on the head here. I could easily go into servers and use the M203 and GP30s and dominate, medalling nearly every time, but that just isn't fun to me and I know that's not how the game is meant to be played. When I play I play for fun. Sure, winning is more fun than losing sometimes, but I don't care enough about victory to sabotage my fun. That's like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

                        Re: The meaning of Skill

Oh c'mon, I made ONE minor misread out of ALL your posts in this thread. There's no need to get riled up about it. You obviously haven't had arguments with the kind of people I have before or you'd really know when someone isn't reading what you wrote (or purposley misquoting you).

So if someone can get a great kill death ratio without cheating, they must be skilled, because, unless people are constantly getting revived, those kills need to come from someone else's death. Unless of course they are getting killed for something they have no control over (luck). Do you agree with that?

                          Re: The meaning of Skill

What ****es me off are the players that jet suicide into other vehicles just because they can't shoot down the enemy or the people that know they're beat in a short range battle but just aim their grenade launcher at their feet and somehow live when I die...

Any 1-hit kill weapons in games **** me off if they're not balanced right. Take the sword in Halo 2. That takes no skill whatsoever. Just aim in the vicinity of the enemy and fire, you have a kill. Same with the rocket launcher, fire near the ground where the enemy is standing and they're dead. These kinds of weapons ruin games. When I've played Karkand lately, all I see are tons of assault classes just spamming their grenade launchers. M203's and GP-30's are just flying everywhere completely ruining any kind of infantry combat there is.

As far as I'm concerned grenade launchers take virtually no skill in aiming until the target is like 250ft away. I refuse to use it until changes are made (make players use iron sights rather than the yellow xhairs - have an arming time and up the dmg that it does to the player firing when it's a point blank shot - maybe have only 1 grenade to hold at a time). I highly doubt any of these changes will ever be made so I just won't be using them.

EDIT: JeFFLe323, you are what I'd definitely consider a grenade launcher whore. When you have more kills with the attachment than the actual weapon...there's a problem there.

                            I second that.

Not alot of things take skill in BF2, i judge peoples skill by the tactics and moves they execute on the battlefield

There has always been a WW1 kind of mentality on Karkand regardless. Enter the meat grinder... I've even seen wave after wave of people charging down the same street, never attempting to flank and even leaving vehicles untouched back at the US base. But who has less skill, the guys launching the grenades or the one trying to rush them with a rifle?
