    36. Love Bf2. girlfriend tolerateres it and tries to lure me away with striptease whilst i am playing. she doesnt get it . but the other day I set her up and she fluffed around for a while (so if you saw 'noob_mc_goob' acting like a total tard the other day on wake it was her not me! Hopfully I'll get her into it!

I'd like to see a poll of how old players are .

PS I am an airline pilot in my real life, and it is quite humbling how many 9 year olds can kick my ass in the sky. I generally remain a grunt!

    Noob out,.,,

Though I suspect the skills required flying a real plane and flying a BF2 "kid-control" plane are at least a country mile apart.

        Re: Old Geezer Players

As I began reading this thread, I imagined that I'd probably be the oldest guy here, but some of you geezers have got me beat.

I'll be 47 in January. I've got a wife of 25 years and 2 boys (13 and 17). My wife doesn't mind my gaming at all and thanks to things like G4 and Gamespot, my sons and I can actually discuss games (even though they're mainly console gamers and I'm strictly a PC guy). Imagine that....a father being able to actually communicate with his teenage kids! LOL

I retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years in 1997. I spent the last 7 of those 20 years as the 2nd Battalion Logistics NCOIC for Task Force 160 "Night Stalkers" Special Ops Aviation.

I'm currently the Senior Logistics Analyst for a large government contractor. Most of my coworkers know of my love of PC games and accept it just as readily as they accept my obsession with hockey. After all, work is work and play is play and long as you keep the two seperate (aside from occasional posts from work , there should be no problem.

I'm quite sure I'll be gaming as long as I'm physically able.

          Re: Old Geezer Players

36 yr old here, been playing since tank and pong came out. I have been a gamer all my life. I probabley owned every home game system that ever came out. Actually, lol, I won an Atari on the Bugs Bunny afterschool show when I was like 10. I sent in a card and saw my name come up on screen. After I found online multiplayer games, especially FPSers, I got hooked even more. Played Counter Strike so much I almost got a divorce . Well now I play BF2 BUT I only play after the kids go to bed and the wife is settled for the night. it was a compromise that works well for me. I get about 2 hrs a night to feed my addiction and everyones happy. I will game till I die probably.

                33 here , married
Have been playing since ZX Spectrum , it´s my anti-stress .
Never played so much online as with BF2 , mostly RTS´s and FPS in single player.
Usually a couple of hours a day , more on weekends or if i have to work via VPN at night (there is allways some waiting for some other team to finish their jobs , so i make the most of those hours ...)

BF2 is definately an ARCADE style flight control system, not a simulator.

Which was my point. The OP was saying that although he was an airline pilot IRL, he kept getting owned in BF2. Thanks for reading.

                      Re: Old Geezer Players

                      31 years old, married for 6 years and have 3 kids (4, 2 & 1).

Been gaming for about 25 years, since my Uncle purchased a Grandstand television console which allowed me to play Pong in various forms (Squash, Tennis, Soccer etc) as well as try and shoot a moving white dot with a light-gun. Moved onto ZX Spectrum 48k and the Commodore64 shortly after - had both. :) Stayed there for a while until I got a Saturday job and could afford the Commodore Amiga. My friends and I gamed, PD'ed and XCOPY'ed ourselves to death on our Amigas throughout our teenage years (when we weren't chasing girls obviously!).

Moved to the PC platform in the very mid-90's when DOOM and C&C came out and blew my socks off.

I knew my wife was my soul mate when she came over to see me when we were first going out and laughed out loud when she saw patients with "Bloaty Head Disease" on Theme Hospital. She then challenged me to two player Tetris 2 on her SNES. *sigh* She totally understands my love of gaming and even refers to my PC as my "Girlfriend" - we even christened it Doris a while back.

In terms of home/game balance, we split the weekend up between us. I look after the kids from waking to sleeping on Saturday, she does the same on Sunday. We both get a lie-in and do whatever we want on our "days off" to recharge our batteries. Invaribaly, I either game or play with the kids. Alternatively, I play when she is watching Corrie (that's a soap for you non-Brits) or while she goes out to evening classes mid-week. I have to admit that having time out from the kids and each other really does keep things from getting too fraught and would heartily recommend it.

My kids? Well, they know Daddy likes to play on the computer and will be allowed to play min-games on the CBeebies website in due course.

Was very interested to see other clans for mature gamers. Have been thinking about joining a UK clan that is for people like us as some ex-clanmates from when I used to play CS were/are members: OAP Clan

                        fun topic!
I was born in '79 and played my first computer game at my uncles place. He had one of the first Atari consoles with some stupid baseball game and Pitfall!
But at age of 12 or 13 i got my own nintendo yippee! Mario was tha bomb!
First game i completed was faxanadu on the nes! Man i was hella proud!

Nowadays i like 3d shooters most but i'll try any game! (also like sims, strategy, mmorpg, adventure, sports, arcade etc etc)

I'm a gamer and will be for a long long time! I might not be using a pc when im in a retirement home but will b playing (computer) games!

oh i also like board gamez alot too..! (risk, settlers of catan, monopoly).

38 next month... I've been gaming since the late 70s/early 80s. Arcades, then Grandstand and Atari consoles.. First computer was a Sinclair Spectrum 48k around 1984 and upgraded to a Speccie 128+. Spent a lot of time in school on the BBC B, playing Elite. Moved away to study and left computers alone for a couple of years, except for a Sega Megadrive. Eventually an Amiga A500+ fell into my lap and the computer bug returned. I shared a house with two other lads at the time, we had some great drunken Sensible Soccer tournies. :)
I started my first IT job in 1995 and upgraded to a PC in 1996, a P75 with 64mb RAM... and ever since I've been pumping too much money and time into satisfying my homicidal tendencies by playing online sims/war games...
