36, gaming since tank and pong with the old gaint boxes. Amen to all you others before me and who shall post later. A gamer nevers quites, he only becomes more matured in his play and harder to kill.

41 here. Been playing vid games as long as I can remember <cough .. Commodore ... Intelevision.. cough>. Nothing like throwing in the 5 1/4 Floppy disk & DOS prompt with my LEET 4 color monitor. ROFL! If they ever do have it to where you can "FEEL" it, they better add a "Hip Replacement" option for the medic. LOL

          What? You know my dad?

He's a 58 year old VP of a major corporation and he finished Halo on his own spare time just a year or so ago.
But you won't find him on a web forum.
He's company is not even in IT...

I would be interested in starting a thread for those who are in the "40-something to 99+ year old" age group . . . Just to see if there are any other guys who waste their precious time like I do.

I not quite in this age group but I am 33 and starting to slow down a bit.

I'm 32 now, when I was about 9 I started gaming with my 'hawt' Atari 2600. Everybody kept telling me how it was a 'phase' and I'd grow into other stuff over time.

I didn't believe them then and I still don't believe them, gamer for life

I'm single so that helps.. no whining behind me to come 'be social', it'd be a lie anyway

LOL! I know what you mean. I teach 5th grade. My students understand computers and gaming better than the other adults at the school! They're more into the BF2 than most of the adults I know.

The kids think it's great that I'm into computer games. The adults just don't get it at all (by and large), but their opinions don't really matter anyway!

I have noticed that a more of an older crowd seem to play the battlefield games, Which is a great improvement than what I was use to in the last gaming community I was a part of. Ugh.... You don't wanna know.

                          Re: Old Geezer Players

I turned 47 a few weeks ago (still clinging on to "mid-40'') and enjoy gaming as much as any teenager I started on PC's a few years ago after a serious bike accident suddenly gave me too much free time and made my other hobbies obsolete. It was actually one of my boys that started my obsession after he showed me a random racing game (can't remeber which) and said i would enjoy it..... well about 2 weeks later i bought my own computer and have never looked back.

As for shooters, i started with HL deathmatch and was lucky enough to find CS through the old sierra update thing that listed mods. Like most people that played CS i suppose i now play shooters only, and currently only BF2 as its everything i always wanted in a game really (with a few minor bugs)

As for the hows, whys and wheres, well I have been married for 24 years and have 3 wonderful children, my wife has always put up with my strange and childish behaviour and only occasionally nags me to get off the computer and we never have a serious argument about it, in fact she is probably the worlds most obsessive "dragon tiles" player and i have to occaisonaly nag her to turn off her PC because dinners ready (she plays nothing but a 5 year old version and denies even playing "games")

Ironically none of my children play games hardly at all nowadys and they are perhaps worse then anyone at telling me how i should act my age :) Each to his own i have always said, i have met 50 year old "children" and 13 year old "grown-ups" its all about attitude rather then physical age IMHO but of course you young 'uns probably have better reactions then us OAP's

...... oh and my prostrate is fine, but i am not looking forward to getting that confirmed some time in the next few years

                            33 and still playing hard.

Just wish this game was ONLY for 15+ ....Im sick of kids that dont have a clue that play this game. I can only think that its kids that only punish without understanding the situation.

Well forum lurker here at 58. Started on the old ASCII star trek game on a terminal connected to an Altair micro. Went on to many DOS based games finally found Castle Wolfenstien and thought that was great, shooting bad guys and solving mazes. Then to Duke Nukem, Hexen, Quake but lost interest when the online versions started with nothing but ppl running around and jumping, the eyes couldn't keep up so off the RTS, Red Alert Total Annihilation and the such, but when BF1942 came out here I am. All the vehicles made it awesome. Of course the wife doesn't understand but she has accepted the fact that I AM a gamer.
                              Definitely an Old Geezer here.

I have a saying that goes "you don't really have to grow up, you just have to learn to behave in public." At 41, I don't hide my gaming and my wife is cool as anyone could be. The odd thing is, I built my kids awesome computers and they don't game at all. LOL

Because I have run my own successful business since 1988, I have learned to balance my game time and my responsibilities. I do tend to spend more time of the forums I guess, probably because I ran the BF42.com/FPSCentral/BFCentral forums so long that I know most of these people. :)
