I noticed today when looking at my rank in BFHQ, it says next rank is Master Gunnery Sgt. So this nice little crappy stupid (profanities go on for 5 more minutes...).... is also going to cheat me out of Sgt Major when I get the 50000 points. That wont be for a very long time but...still it sucks. I know rank isnt that big of a deal and it is just a game...but at least have the game WORK...when things work, its a tad bit more enjoyable


Also, I was reading on an EA forum that you are supposed to get all the needed basic badges before reaching 20000 points to get 1st sgt. Well this guy that was telling everyone this is very wrong since I got all my basic badges, I mean all of them, before 15000 points. Ok, so...there just has to be something really screwed up because I mean I know I had all the badges, hundreds others had them...doesnt add up.

If anyone hears something from EA or finds out something, post it

Ah but you didn't. You are a classic case of someone who has been cheated out of First Sgt by the Vet Pistol Bug.

You got VET pistol on 29th July (But the stupid game did not give you basic pistol too)

Since patching you HAVE got BASIC pistol just a couple of days ago on 5th October!

You might not believe me, but you can check for yourself at http://www.gameslave.co.uk/bfparser.cfm look at the date above all your badges.

This does of course give hope for anyone (like me) with less than 20K points and VET only badges, as they should be able to go get basic pistol (or kinfe) again and get it added to their record.

Now it'll take me a few attempts to get basic knife again to prove this, as I only have VET knife, but maybe that will cure the problem for me.

Yours can only be fixed by EA.

Well on my first attempt in Karkand I got basic knife again, and it awarded it to me:

If you already have vet knife, then you won't be awarded basic, just like every other medal.

Yep, I'm locked at Master Sergeant for the same reasons. I thought I needed all the basic badges just as a security check, but yeah, that's not the case. Still, I'm enjoying the game regardless and I'm hoping something is done about it soon.

Really stupid to think that only a few lines of code is screwing all of us up.

same thing i was hopeing the new ptch would fix the problem .but just bin robbed of three medals and a rank.when i got the vet knife and pistol it said that i had the basic aswell but no just a load of **** i have 46,000 no fuc in way im starting over

Okay, so it really does work to get those missing badges even tho we have the veteran already? I gotta try.
What about the rank then? Will we be able to become First Sergeant (if currently Master Sergeant)? Or do you really need to have the badges before you get 20k points?

I think it works on how u get the points like master sergeant u get it by killing ppl more then commander and teamwork, but first sergeant u have to get teamwork points and commander points.

I just tried getting pistol again but no luck....I got 5 pistol kills...then went to 8...i did not get an award.

I know, I believe you I remember re-earning basic pistol, I also re-earned basic assualt on that same level. Know why? Because the server screwed up and saw i was a private that game, not a master sgt. I couldnt even use my unlocks in that level.

Only problem is I earned my basic knife before my vet knife. go ahead and relook at my stuff, basic knife july 31, and vet knife august 3. So I do have all the basic stuff, and I am not 1st sgt. But I really do recall when I got basic pistol and vet pistol at the same time it said "awarded basic pistol" and right after "awared vet pistol"
