you cant re-earn basic badges unless the server messes up and sees you as a private. It happens all the time, thats the only way (I know of) to re-earn badges and crap.

Why does the master sergeant tag look so crappy compared to 1st sergeant?

Okay, so it really does work to get those missing badges even tho we have the veteran already? I gotta try.

I'm afraid it didn't work. It awarded it during the game, but now 12 hours later it still doesn't show on my rank record. (update: it did get added, se later posts)

Guess it might work if you get awarded it again in the last game that takes you over 20,000 points. It'll take me a couple of weeks to get there to know.

i believe you can only get one or the other ranks. if you have the badges when you reach 20k then you get 1st if you dont you get master or vice versa. im not there yet but i read in a post somewhere about unlocks.

We know. The issue is if you have VET badges for pistol or kife, and the game forgot to give you the basic ones you earned at the same time.

You might not believe me, but you can check for yourself at http://www.gameslave.co.uk/bfparser.cfm look at the date above all your badges.

Strange, i went for the pistol and knife badges only AFTER this patch. In one round, i got the basic pistal badge. Then only about at least 3 minutes later, i got the expert badge one. But using that page, the time on the badges is the same (ingame name : SgtSpoon)

I spoke too soon. It's just turned up (checking using gameslave's ranking page - see below). I don't see an entry in BFHQ for it though (update: it does show in BFHQ too)

The strange thing is it's dated the 1st October and listed after the Vet badge, the 1st was when I got my Vet badge (before patching). The basic Knife definitley wasn't there before today.

Will it now let me get First? I don't know. It'll take me about two weeks to get to 20K points to find out.

I'm sorry this won't help anyone who has already been incorrectly ranked, we need to keep up the pressure on EA to fix this properly.

Given the observed behaviour I guess they have fixed the client to record both badges properly in 1.03, but they havn't fixed the database retrospectively.

Yep, my basic pistol badge finally shows up in Battlefield 2 Stat Retriever and it never used to. I still do not go up in rank to 1st Sergant though. Maybe when I hit 50,000 I will go to Sergant Major because it shows that I have all my basic badges now. I guess we will see.
