they fixed it, when u are master sgt. with over 20000pts u cant 'rank up' to a first sgt. so your next rank will be Master gunnery (50k) and automaticly sergeant major

As far as I know, First and Master Sergeants are both the same level of rank so a First Sergeant doesnt have commander priority over a Master Sergeant.

If you are already Master Sgt it's too late to go get the basic badges to obtain First Sgt, if you only had Vet badges. EA would need to fix this.

We don't know if it works for people with <20K points at the moment, either.

For people who are Master Sgt already, adding the missing basic badges (missing because of the VET pistol/knife Bug) Might, just Might mean you get to be Sergeant Major at 50K points instead of Master Gunnery Sgt.

We need someone to rank up after filling in the missing badges to prove the theory one way or the other.

I Just noticed my missing/regained basic knife badge has turned up in BFHQ too, only its back dated to the correct date there too. Had to hit "next" a few times on the display to see it. That gives me a lot of hope that this will actually work.

I was having the same problem. Got basic and vet pistol at the same time. After the patch I did get the basic tho. I'm at 19134 points so the only thing I'm missing is basic knife.

So I'll repost when I get to 20k and hopefully 1st sgt.

It seems they have fixed it now, in just a few days after being informed of the problem. WHatever was you look at it thats impressive work, kudos to DICE.

To clarify, if you are CURRENTLY a master sargeant then you wont get promoted again regardless of badges untill you hit 50,000 points. With all the basic badges (and the fixed knife/pistol glitch) you will rank up to Sargeant Major.

If anyone still moans after they have fixed the problem, then you are whining babies :) if the rank bothered you so much why didnt you inform EA months ago? this pistol/knife glitch has been arounf since day 1 and everyone knew about it. (we also ALL knew they were lowering the requirments for rank a month before the patch)

To be fair, they didn't exactly fix it, but at least it looks like in 1.03 you can go and get your missing basic badge(s). It's still not yet been proven.

Sure we knew we had basic badges missing, but show me a post from day 1 that said it would mean we wouldn't get ranked and medals properly?

Well don't forget to go get basic knife first! I think the best way to get basic knife is a 64 player karkand map with less than 30 players. You'll have loads of tickets to do it in then. It helps if you look for guys not moving on the UAV.

Ok, just checked my stats online and it says my basic pistol badge is there. Good. However, I am a Gunnery Sergeant right now and I should be going to First Sergeant but it still says my next rank is Master Sergeant. I only have around 11,000 points. Or will it automatically switch to First Sergeant?

Also, according to http://ubar.bf2s.com/ranks.php nothing requires 1st Sergeant. Where would I go after that?

If this is "fixed" where you still can't get promoted even if you did have the badges before (vet badges should have counted for petes sake), then really this just sucks. My friend is going to out rank me long before I make it to 50000 points, I have about 21500 now, he has about half that and he was not affected by this since he got his basic pistol before me...so basically he is going to get 1st sgt when I would still have like 20000 points more to go...lame. This isn't a fix in my opinion, if it was a fix, they would have made it so you could get promoted to 1st sgt at any time even if you had achieved 20000 points already (really tell me if this makes more sense to you)...This is what I mean. Ok, you got 20000 points and are a master sgt, but have none of the badges. Oh, next rank is 30000 points away, how crappy. Well look, I can get a new rank if I get the badges...ok, so i get the badges while trying to get the 30000 points I need...I get to 25000 or so and have the badges and Yah! I get promoted. To me that just seems more logical, gives you something to work on during those 30000 points.

It's not been fixed. At best we have a workaround that MIGHT work for some people who are close to, but not yet achieved 20K or 50K.

EA are aware there is an issue and that applies to people who have already been incorrectly ranked, as well as potential ones. I hope they fix it properly for everyone.

i have the bug too, i just checked my stats and it says i have my basic pistol badge now, and on the same day/same time as my veteran....so that part is fixed. i don't know what they are gonna do about awarding ranks. i think as others do here that when you get to 20k/50k points then you recieve the rank corresponding with the badges you have. i just hope that Master Sergeants can get to Sergeant Major, and not just Gunnery Sergeant.

I had 22000 before patch, but missing Pistol/Knife. When I got my Basic Pistol I didn't get my Veteren even though I have over 50pistol Kills. Also, I didnot get promoted to 1st Sergant. I quess I have to wait till 50000??
