why do we bring this topic up every day? the fact is if you only play 1/2 an hr a day you deserve to get only corporal. If you play 3 hrs a day you deserve to get sergeant majer and if you play 10 you deserve to get that highest rank. I hope the ranks are left alone.

That sucks I loved owning the hell out of the noobs with my DAO,G36c and PKM now everyone will have those guns.

I don't have a problem with lowering the point thresholds, but they should put warrent officers and commissioned ranks in there as well, just so that people get promoted quicker, but you'll always know who the really good people are.

I have to totally agree here... if you only find an hour a week or an hour a month to play why do you need the DAO-12 or M95 or G3? Hell you get 1 unlock when you get to 1000 points... Make it a good choice. Otherwise if you have to have ALL the unlocks whats the point in having multiple weapons, may as well scrap the default guns cause no one would use them.

I hit L. Corporal and unlocked my G36C.... which is all i play with, occasionaly i flip to Anti-Tank or Engineer to get a particular task done then im straight back to Spec Ops... and when im on the field if i kill someone i always check their pack out who knows what gun they had. My gf unlocked the DAO-12 and hates it and cant wait to unlock the medic gun next which pushes her in a round to play as well as she can to get the required points, to which she has less than a 1000 to go and she will have her new unlock. So that will be 2 unlocks after 150 hours of play... i have 2 unlocks and 230hours of play and dont know what the hell i would unlock next maybe the Sniper class.

You can argue that points do or do not matter, some they do some they dont. But id like to see the entire winning team get 1.5x bonus and the winning squad get a additional .5x bonus or something to make points easier to get maybe i dunno...

I liked how it was in BFV...you could pick between one of 2 different loadouts for each kit. Neither was necessarily better...each choice suited a different play style.

Soooo....if the unlocks were easier to get, it'd basically be like giving most players at least a choice for at least a few kits a la BFV.

Nobody ever complained about one choice being better or out of balance compared to the other...people just used them and went about their merry ways having fun.

my guess is that they are lowering the points to get the higher ranks but when battlefield Spec Forces comes out there might be new ranks.

Are they better players? Dedicated, ok, but lets face it, they just have more playtime than normal people, thus more points. I wouldn't call them better.

I would like to see some more requirements for gaining ranks other than points.

good point here. just playing is only an indication that these people have no real life outside bf2, if dedicated to it (dont get me wrong i love the game too). But I welcome anything that encourages skill over just regular playing - anyone can do that!

I also hate all these posts about people hating the points/ranking system though. if you dont like dont waste your time saying so! get on and play!! i for one think the point levels do need tweeking so that those of us who do care about getting them feel they have a realistic chance, several thousand hours is ridiculous! Yes keep the harder ranks/awards out of reach of lesser players, but be realistic. Personally I think no more than say 2000 hours for all the highest awards and given the current top scorers 250,000 points seems about right for tops. E.g. 250/500 hours for each veteran badge is stupid - whos going to play 200 hours on an AA stinger????!! Boring!!!!! Sure 200 hours for expert maybe?!

Its all about a realistic balance to reflect the best players - not just figures plucked out of the air!!!

i dont think any of the ranks or medals should be lowered at all, if anything make them higher... I mean... this game has been out for what? 2 months? and people are already staff sgt... and they have 90% of the medals... whats the point of playing if you can get everything the game has to offer so quickly?? what would make people play this game a year from now if there wasnt more stuff to earn?

1.) They have more time then all of us. If you have work there is no way you can devote all that time.

2.) The BF2 vanilla ends in 1 month, so really why does it matter? Their just going to throw some more rediculious stuff at you in SF, then sooner or later they'll scale it down.

3.) Why does rank matter? All it shows is how much time you have to devote to the game at present state.

First of all, I would love to see somone who has 90% of the medals. Second, what will people do in a year? Work on thir destinguished service and sharpshotter infantry medals. Each currently requires 290+ days worth of constant play time in a ranked server.

That is why the system needed to be changed. There was always more stuff to earn, but, there was not enough stuff that could be earned in the near future without surrendering their your life the game to keep casual gamers (like me) interested.

I dont care about points to get ranks, they should keep those the same. Just give more unlocks for the ranks.
