Re: Reduction of Points Required for Ranks

I think Dice has had the realization that their ranking system was a great idea, but had too many flaws which allowed too much cheating. In the end, the honest guy works forever to gain rank, but the padder is already at 130,000+

The options were to try to fix the problems, and then wipe everyones scores (honest guy looses), or to allow the system to play less of a factor in the game. I'm glad their doing it because I don't think there is anyway to prevent the cheaters from exploiting the ranking system.

Re: Reduction of Points Required for Ranks

Personally, I'm kinda disappointed that there making it easier to gain Ranks. On the one hand I understand that some players who don't have the time to play enough will get discouraged and stop playing if there is no reward. But what about the players who have been putting in the time to get up in Rank, what do we get. I've nearly played 200hrs and I have 20000points, nothing to brag about I know, but when I install the new patch am I gonna all of a sudden be promoted to Sergant?

Lastly, what about out ranking someone for the Commander Spot. If they lower the requirements to low, you may find yourself in a server full of Sergants, and a inexperienced Commander. All in all, it's not that big a deal to me, the Comp leagues don't recognize Ranks or unlocks anyway, and that's where the real fun is for me in this game.

what does your rank have to do with fun ??

imo, this whole stat system ruins the game, anyhow, promotes exploiting,
hacks, and penalizes decent server admins everywhere who have ranked
or unranked servers. The ranked ones because they have to kiss EAs ass
and follow silly server rules, and unranked servers are punished because
noone plays on most of them..

the whole ranked/unranked/stats system is a joke.

stats/points/ranks prove NOTHING. Ive been killing Sgts like they were
butter since I was a Prv...

Besides, never put any faith into a company that takes 3 months to
fix their problems....they will always do the wrong thing.

I don't see lowering the rankings as a bad thing if they now include the officer ranks

No, I don't play for the stupid ranks. I play just for fun whenever I have time. I am not going to quit just because some kid calls me a "noob" just because he plays more than me and I don't have his rank.

Yes, yes, yes! Raise the points for anything that emphasises/encourages teamwork. More points for defend, repair, resupply, revive etc. How about point bonuses for the best squad?

There's so many ways they could actually make the point system encourage people to play better. As it is now, the only real incentive for scoring lots of points is for the unlocks, and people will do some pretty cheesy stuff to get those points.

Personally, I'd don't really give a hoot about points or rank, I just like to play.

to me, all the ranks are is a barrier for getting unlocks, i could care less if i had the best rank or worst, i just play because its fun, and it will be more fun with the unlocks. I do like the stats, because its a way to see how im doing, but i really don't care that much.

the only thing i care about is my unlocks. they can do whatever they want with the points/ranking system.

                      Its not a MMORPG.

Re: Reduction of Points Required for Ranks

This is the first I heard of point reductions. I have recently started my 4th BF2 character account (due to name change restrictions, leaving a clan, etc..) and am trying to dig my way past Lance Corporal yet again. To me, it seems the points for unlocks go up quite steeply, so only people who can pour countless hours, have infinate skills, or are shameless stat whores can get multiple unlocks. I have a blast playing and don't really care about ranks, but would like to play with some of the other weapons. Wouldn't it be great to have a 'training room' or intro section where you could try out unlocks on bots?

Oh yeah, does this site have a problem with Firefox. I couldn't type in boxes here unless I fired up my dusty IE...

Experience doesn't always equal skill, but it's a good indicator :)

well it is hard to get some ranks becuase of the points...and it should be that way...if u watch band of brothers...Pvt. Webster survived the whole war and he didnt get promoted

everyone with a set of balls and half a brain knows they did this because otherwise the previous rqeuirements would be unreachable without stat padding (which they claim they have done away with)

It's bitter sweet to me. As you can see in my sig, I'm not to Corporal yet and my estimated timeframe to accomplishing that next rank is 110 days!!!!!
I'm not the best in the world, but I'm pretty good in my mind. I just can't play all the time. I have work, a wife, and a kid on the way. I usually only have one good night a week to play. Does this mean I'm any less deserving of a weapon unlock? I think not. I could give two sh*ts about rank. I just want the weapons.
So yes it will suck that my hard work to date will be easily matched by someone that just picked up a copy and started playing from 1.03 but if most of you truly don't care about ranks and such, this shouldn't bother you one bit.
