WTF, "Commander scoring - No more TKs from Artillery" in 1.03 patch!!!
Re: WTF, "Commander scoring - No more TKs from Artillery" in 1.03 patch!!!
Why will there be more munity votes? im confused, the commander will not kill you with arty, so why would you vote for this reason? It doesnt mean that he just doesnt get negative score for it, it means YOU WILL NOT DIE from arty, which is exactly what it says, no more tks from arty
Re: WTF, "Commander scoring - No more TKs from Artillery" in 1.03 patch!!!
Yes as i have allways been saying commanders should be immune to being punished for art kills...... its just dumb you allways have people that think they can dodge art or there god or what not and they run and the next thing you know your racking up negative points. So the commander shouldnt be punished for other people who are just dumb...
Re: WTF, "Commander scoring - No more TKs from Artillery" in 1.03 patch!!!
Let's look at this maturely, sure it compromises realism, but it saves a lot of problems. Commanders who actually do a good job will not have to put up with people running into enemy infested areas.
There are of course negatives, but you have to realise. There are probably DICE developers online every day of the week on this game, they know what's best for it...

You won't be immune to artillery, your death just won't count as a TK.
We're not sure if the commander still get -4 teamwork points though.

Yeah, but we're not sure if they even get -4 points for killing you in the first place.
Normally you get -4 point for killing a teammate and then that teammate can assign an additional -4 points if he wants to punish you.

Is it really your teammates fault if he enters an area with a bunch of enemies when he doesn't have a UAV over his head?
How does he know that there aren't like 5 guys there waiting for him...he doesn't. And so what happens is people like that may only see 1 enemy or none and get killed, thus one of the main reasons they punish the commander.
Re: WTF, "Commander scoring - No more TKs from Artillery" in 1.03 patch!!!
Personally the best idea I heard so far is as follows:
If a commander places an artillery strike on a teammate who is inside the area-of-effect then the commander gets -4 teamwork points, but the guy can't punish for an additional -4.
If a commander places an artillery strike and a teammate enters the area-of-effect then the player gets -2 points for basically suiciding.
When a commander places artillery a red canister is placed at the spot, just like when you are asked to defend or attack a location there's a purple and orange canisters:
The people in the modding forum said that this change would be pretty easy to implement since there's already code for attack/move/defend/mine/destroy orders for the commander that spawns a colored canister where the commander clicked.
