Couldnt of said it better myself.

To show its true power you have to only use it on city maps or maps with close areas. If you want to use it on larger maps try and get at least 15 or so meters away from the target at maximum.

It works best on Sharqi Peninsula on the higher up left side of the map. As it works wonders when its allmost right in the guys face.

It has the exact same stats as the RPK-74 which is without a doubt the best support weapon. Apart from it has a slower rate of fire to conserve accuracy and a third more damage. I still prefer the RPK-74 as it can hit long range better than any other as well as it looking the best and having high damage, more rounds and using a drum. Its perfect, apart from its not even a 74, the 74 takes 5.45x39mm which is a smaller round than the 7.62x39mm in which the AK-47 and RPK takes. Plus a drum on the 74 version is very rare. All AK's with 74 at the end instead of 47, as far as i know take the smaller ammo. Anyway it says in the game its a 7.62 LMG.

Overall it aint going to do **** if you want it as an assault rifle. Pretty much use it in shotgun range. I know it sounds dumb but thats the only way you will mow people down.

MGs are not assault weapons. They are for setting up a defence... The enemy comes to you, not the other way round!

NP, I like to leave lots of hats in the ground, so just follow the trail.

More probably you wont need to ask for me to die, apparently I do it every 38secs according to my stats, so you wont have to wait long.

Off topic: Anyone know how the accuracy stat is calculated?

I play PKM 50% of the time and have an overall accuracy of 20%. Does this take into account shots from vehicles?

Actually, it does damage helos, just not tanks/APCs (at all). It would take 400 hits to kill an AH, 600 to kill a transport helo. You don't really need to "kill jeeps," just the people in them, which you can do without destroying the jeep by shooting enough through the windows.

The PKM is mostly different from the other LMGs rather than better/worse.

you have a real vendetta against the pkm dont you? every thread about weapon unlcoks, i can be sure to find you in there somewhere talking about how crap it is and only works on karkand. always karkand.

why? did a pkm touch you when you were little?

Re: PKM not living up to the hype.

I've played a bit with it and I think the key to getting a good experience out of the PKM is to remember the class is called "Support" not "KillWhore"... You're there to help out a team, not rack up massive kill numbers... Sure, it won't outright kill a full-health attack chopper, but it damn will get them running in the other direction when you start peppering them... (And that's enough right there to buy your squad another flag)... It will rip jeep/hummer drivers and passengers to shreds).. Same with the BH, you may not blow it up, but you can take out most of the crew... (And once you blow the heads off the engineers, the pilot will leave... Again, saving you the flag)...

It's an excellent support weapon... Just don't try to Rambo it and you'll be fine...

Haha... I wanted to charge in there all by myself and just spray bullets. I guess I thought incorrectly about the weapon.

Yea, that's it. Child molestation jokes are so classy.

No you tit-hump, I have a problem with the PKM because it's lame. I've played with it for a good while and though successful, I've seen much more effective games using the regular assault rifles and carbines. Even the regular support guns, particularly the RPK, are better.

I share my opinion because if not, all of the PKM fanboys on the other side of the issue will tout it as this amazing gun - and it's not. Ultimately everyone will decide on their own based on the data available to them. I'm just making sure people have balanced data.

wtf? whoever said the PKM sucks. and yes you can go rambo with it, i get 70 80 points per round by charging flags and such. i dont stand in one place for more than 30 seconds, always move and shoot. if you lay for longer, you will be pwned by some n00b with the n00b tube. run until you see someone, than prone and shoot. by the time they see you and adjust their aim to you proning, they will have 10 seconds left in their respawn

Re: PKM not living up to the hype.

I unlocked the PKM few days ago and so far I have in my board:

                          3 BlackHawks
                          2 Cobras
                          1 Chinese Attack Chopper
                          Many DPV's crew

I'm sure all of the kills are due to choppers already damaged but man it really feels great when you send them to hell... most of my chopper kills are when they are leaving the zone for repair....

Not to mention all those guys I made fall from the choppers.... but again you really have to think about playing the right role... "Support"

I actually like using the Rpk better. It's inbetween the saw and pkm in stats which balances it out for me.

I agree. After playing around with the PKM for a while now I've found it to be an awesome weapon. But I much prefere the burst fire from a SAW.

I hate how any transport chopper you shoot with a support weapon just makes the chopper go wow I'm being shot at. Peace.
