I'm currently working on a master's in statistics. I did a dual major computer science/applied math degree. So, this sort of thing comes natural to me. And you can just call me Zap. This 02 account is temporary until I get home later and retreive my password.

I've already got a website on geocities ready, but I can't start construction until later. Thank goodness my g/f is out of town at a baby shower for the weekend. I need some nerd time.

I'm an OK player, aim is alright but I haven't practiced head shots (I'm mostly AT anyways). I'm usually in top 10 but usually not top 3.

Does your formula take into account the differences in the classes? Or in being Commander or Squad Leader? Commanders score commander points, which get incorporated into the global score I think. (I'm guessing the Global Score already includes the Commander score.) But these points aren't reflected anywhere else, so that might skew results depending on the formula. Flag caps and kills, on the other hand, are listed, alongside the total teamwork and combat scores they contribute to.

Also, a good Squad Leader tries to stay alive so he can be a spawn point. There are other ways to play it of course (inspiring but doomed charge), so maybe it's not a good thing to try to represent in the formula. It's too bad the stats don't show how many you got as a Squad Leader, how many artillery TK's you got, etc etc. but c'est la vie.

(Actually, including artillery details would probably be bad; it might encourage people to get as many artillery kills as possible, instead of using it as only one of a commander's tools for achieving victory.)

The only commander stat I use is Commander Pts/Commander Time.
If you're a good commander, you'll win games over time, and thus have a higher ratio of pts:time. You can rack up all the kills you want as commander, but it's points I'm interested in.

Great another way to get people to stick to one kit or map or style of play. This will never work, how can any mathmatical formula show an indication of teamplay and skill.

For example, im sure we will all agree, it takes no skill to sit on an enemy spawn in a tank or apc, or hold the fire button in a BH all round, but these will both give massive scores and even with weighting will still give those players high skill ratings. Take electrix and cotzi both of which you have at twice the "skill" of an avarage player, yet both play exclusivly on Karkand and mainly with one weapon (tank or grenade launcher) on that map both require some experience to know the best positions, and certainly needs good timing to know where people will spawn or hide....... but skill ????


By your formula how would someone rate for example with an even or negative K/D, 10 hours on each map, and very even kills per kit and weapon as well? does it take into account an unbalanced stat profile?? (say more then 20% for any vehicle or map) i think this is the most important factor people overlook, everyone would be 30,000 points up if they played like this, but almost everyone else would give up in boredom Surely it should at least take into account the players average score across the map range, as these differ by a great deal even with people that do play them all.

In truth i have never been on a server where i could spend one whole map (or more) doing the same thing, or in the same kit. and when there is someone else that is, it gets very dull. what do people that play assault or medic all the time do when a tank rolls in on THEM? wait for someone else to take care of it i guess? :salute:

There is a criteria based on Urban Map Time(Karkand, Sharqi, and Mashtuur) against Total Time. A high Urban % can knock down your score down, just as a high Vehicle kill:kill ratio can sink a score. Thus, players with more balanced map time will have a better score.

If I take an even K/D ratio and very average statistics I get a 100 score. Reasons for sub 100 scores are:
Low K/D
Bad TK'ing/Team Damage/Vehicle Damage
Low SPM
Too many vehicle kills(this will draw flak I'm sure, but it's far easier to take someone down inside an LAV-25 than on foot IMO, and thus, requires less skill)

At present I have no criteria for invidivual weapon usage, though I have considered it. I think after the 1.03 patch this will be less of an issue since bunny hopping will most likely be gone, making the grenade launcher a more legitimate weapon.

Update: I've tweaked the formula a few hairs again. Here are the ones I got to tonight(tired as hell and I need to call my g/f back before I go to bed, so I'll get to the rest tomorrow). Keep in mind that I'll probably mess around with the formula more before it's done, but these scores should be close(your scores will also change as you play).

Also, I've started working on a website for the rater that will allow you to input your stats manually and determine your score. I'll also provide explanations of how the rating is calculated and provide space for criticism(of which there is sure to be plenty). Anyways, I'll keep plugging away and keep you guys posted. Thanks for the input thusfar.

Also, thanks to got3n for adding TK info to his site(making my life considerably easier). I'm optimistic about the possiblity of a partnership with his site when the rater is finished. Goin' global, baby!
