It does suck the good game play element isn't even there i played DC for hours and hours after about 2 weeks of playing this i was board and i barly play it at all any more.

What happened? I was under the impression that the guys from Desert Combat collaborated with EA to produce BF2. Is this correct?

It can't be, because Desert Combat had so much more stuff than BF2 has.

1. Bf2 has so many fewer types of vehicles.

Where's the scud?
Where's the MLRS?
Where's the minibird?
Where's just the average beat down car or tanker truck laying around?
Where's the ZSU?
The Vulcan?

2. Kits have fewer items.

No binoculars
Where's the damn Laser Designator we were promised?
Where's the shoulder launched anti-air?

3. Weapons are crap.

Anti-air missiles? Please.
.50 sniper rifle? No zoom and crap damage.
Light Machine Guns? Takes 400 rounds to kill someone.
Etc.

4. Bunny Hopping: ***

5. Black Hawk can take up to 2 tank shots.

And the list goes on and on. Desert Combat was so superior to this game that it's difficult to imagine that the same people worked on both.

lets see, desert combat FINAL was a release that wasnt made by the DC team so i am going to refer to DC .7.

-the vehicles are out of porportion, and the m1 abrams seems to be too small while the the humvees seem to be too big.
-the humvees perform like '80 honda civics and will blow up when moving across a sand dune.
-impossible to hover helicopters STEADILY. everyone loved the DC choppers because that was what they were used to, so they said that BFV and BF2 choppers suck because they are used to DC ones.
-entire servers with EVERYONE using the AT kit. basically everyones running around with RPGs, SMAWs, or stingers.<--this is what annoys me the most
-AA guns such as the ZSU, flak, or others (except stinger) are useless, they cant shoot a chopper down at all.
-PERMA-bunny hoppers. yes, there isnt a stamina bar in DC so everyone can bunny hop all they want without getting tired...and you are complaining about BF2 bunny hoppers.
-any weapon of "mass destruction" in a multiplayer game will make it REALLY unbalanced, thats why there are no handheld 1 shot kill weapons (except maybe explosives) because EA/DICE doesnt want a unbalanced "best weapon ever" weapon. USE YOUR HEAD AND STOP COMPLAINING THE .50 CANT DO DAMAGE, it does 95, which is 95% of damage, so take out the guy's last 5% of health with your pistol or something.
-beat down cars or tankers will make jihad runs in BF2 much worse.
-you dont need binoculars in BF2, the only reason you might need a binocular is if you want to snipe with a assault rifle or carbine, but hey USE THE SNIPER KIT.
-the things that were "promised" but removed must have a reason why they are removed, the code for the laser designater is still here, just not in the game. there are other things that were "promised", such as the blackhawk with the rockets, but you know how unbalanced the blackhawk will be NOW if it was added?

you all played this game, and if you keep complaining about it and say it sucks, than DONT PLAY. in fact, if you hate this game so much, go back to playing Desert Combat and take off the STATS SIG.

ok, show me a video of YOU or ANYONE else hovering a DC helo steadily, and keyword is steadily while capping a flag. spinning around while capping does not count. i would like to see you hover steadily like how a BFV or BF2 chopper would.

I like BF2 better than DC, but I like the DC chopper controls better.... Keeps many of the noobs from flying.

DC was pretty much a chopper whore’s paradise which allowed good chopper pilots to own the whole map. This is what a lot of the DC fan boys want again.

So BF2 is balanced? You mean with BH's that can take 2 tank shots before blowing up and NOT giving ground to air missiles in any kits? Yea, that's a whole lot better in my opinion [/sarcasim]

Now...trying to be unbiased here, lets take a look at this post.

We're on a BF2 forum, saying Battlefield 2 sucks. About Half the people agree that DC > BF2. Desert Combat hasn't been in development for the better part of a year now, BF2 is a brand new game. People that support BF2 keep bring up some advantages BF2 has over DC......but the only thing they all seem to agree on is graphics.

Now looking at the qualities of BF2:

Graphics
Sound
"LOCKING" missiles and cooler HUDs
Squad based combat

Now the things DICE got wrong in BF2:

BUGS OUT THE ARSE
Few Vehicles
Earned weapon kits (12yr olds have the advantage cuz they dont WORK, the whole attack squad thing was ruined by turning everyone into stat whores)
Commander mode (has potential, but it's current version sucks)
Maps (very little massive armor battles, that's the heat)
No infantry based anti-air
"Physics" (does anyone honestly think the aircraft are *more* realistic?)
Damage (2 shots from a .50 cal sniper to kill a MAN?!?! Those things are designed to take out VEHICLES, they'd DETONATE A HUMAN BODY)
No coop or CTF......what the hell were they thinking?

On to Desert Combat:

GOOD:
Maps (not a single person in the world has the right to complain about DCs maps)
Vehicles (nicely detailed, robust selection)
Weapons (infantry anti-air, spec ops is l33t)
Graphics (hey, it's at the limits of the BF1942 engine)
Sound (see above)
Gameplay (simply the best it could have been)
Flight Physics (responsive controls, big learning curve, powerful once mastered)

BAD:

No "teamwork" concept
No auto-hover (i added this in for the n00bs who complain that they can't hover in a chopper, i can do it just fine)

yes, no one in the world can complain about maps in DC, than again, the most played map in DC is a BF1942 map.

edit. barrel rolling and such meneuvers are so easy, its not worth bragging about.
