I played BF1942 for a few years and I think I like BF2 enough to do the same. I've made Corporal in less than two months, as many others have. This seems like a good pace for a game that a lot of people will play for years to come.

I agree and disagree at the same time i made a mistake and unlocked the G3 for my first unlock which i hate it has a small clip and no grenade launcher. what i really want is the L85 because i play medic most of the time and the m-16 sucks with burst fire so it's a little irritating trying to get enough points to get my next rank but they could have made it like BFV where there were no unlocks and the devs kept nerfing the weapons and changing the kits around plus there were no ranks the only way to prove you stuff was to take screens to show off so be thankful for what you have

Please... It should be HARDER to gain ranks. I can get 2,000 points a day w/o trying all that hard... If 10,000 points is too much for you to get to the next rank then stop playing noob.

I would like to first point out that you sturm are an asshat. Not everyone has extensive time to play this game and rack up alot of pts (If that is the reason you are playing). Most of the guys I play with have jobs, and families and could care less about unlocks, points or medals. If you earn 2000 pts a day with little effort, good for you /golfclap. Obviously an assclown like yourself would approach any task without trying. You must have alot of time on your hands, and amazingly enough you even have more time to come on these boards and let us know that we are all noobs. I should make a thread to honor your L337ness.

To get back to the topic, I agree and disagree with the creator of this thread. To some people the point system is fine the way it is (we have Gunnery Sgt. ranks already). To the majority, the point system make gaining rank more of a challenge than is worth the effort. The point system in this game defeats the purpose of team play. Instead of working together to win, we have a bunch of individuals seeking out a way to get more points to increase their rank. This is the reason why there are 10 people killing each other to get the attack chopper, or tank instead of capping flags. The reason squads consist of all medics, with no support or engineers. The point system is the whole downfall of this game. People are focusing too much on their score, and not on having fun which I recall is the whole reason to play a game.

I think they should change the way you get to the top. I think they should also make the kill/death rate more important and the score p/minute. That way not only people that play more time than others will be on top, but also just good players althought they might have played only 80 hours or so.

I think they need to reduce the rank requirements. Really after I get to corporal ranks are all over for me as I doubt I will be playing the vanilla game long enough to get another rank.

The difference between the ranks at the moment really just encourages stat padding and rewards obsessive players who play for unhealthy lengths of time.

They need to gear things more to the average gamer who may only play for a hour at a time.

my opinion on this matter is there is going to be about 3 expansion packs for this so the people who really love this game will buy all 3 and will probubly get all medals ranks and stuff throught due course without it seeming like a really long effort.

With the expansion pack may come new ranks in between the ranks already in place and obviously new weapons as standers and to unlock

I dnt know about you guys, but in my mind, BF2 makes you work way too hard for soo little reward. you work to get 10,000 points for weaks or more, and you get 1 gun, that doesnt do much more then give you something if not nothing. in my mind, they have way too little to unlock, and what you can unlock, is standerd issue in some other games. this isn't everquest so why do they make it just as rank occupied?
I think EA's next patch sould make it easier to get more points faster. i dont mean to the point ware in 2 month's every1 is gona be a battle field officer commission. just a 1 or 2 point increase, so that you can get weopons before battle field 3 comes out without having to play when you sleep and eat.
i dont think they should make it too easy, but they should make it too hard like it is already.
mabe they should have just made it better when it first came out. cause to me there are not enough weopons to unlock, and they are all half done.

I think it depends on your perception on what/how BF2 should be played. IMO BF2 should be a game that you play to enjoy just playing, not automatically try and complete it like other games. BF2 should be a progression of skill not playing just to get accalades. If I had my way I would scrap all ranks and unlockable weapons.

You work for a day or two to get lance corp. That's one gun. You work for another 2 weeks for a SECOND gun on the SAME account.

You need 9500 pts to get to Cpl. from Lnc. Cpl. In 14 days, it would require 679 points/day to reach that. If 2 SPM is considered to be "good", it would take you about 5.7 hours/day of playing to achieve a 2 week promotion to corporal. Now, there are a lot of us out there who have jobs, girlfriends, spouses, kids, social lives, etc. and can't play 6 hours a day. I can occasionally play 6 hours a day, but then for the rest of the week I play about an hour a day. It's hard for casual players.

I think if there were more unlockables the problem wouldn't be so bad. Pistol unlocks for sure would be great, maybe even another unlock per kit( :shock: did he say TWO unlocks per kit?!). Just more stuff, and then scale back the promotion req's by about 25%.

i agree 100% , usually i play 1-2 hours per day (cutting a bit on sleep hours)
and sometimes on weekend´s maybe 4-5 hours on one of the days .
It would be nice (playing as i play because i love the game ) to see some "rewards" for it ie: some unlocks .
otherwise we´ll have to wait for months , not weeks

Some very nice thoughts, but don't forget the game is about modern realistic war. Like a war nowadays. Some of your suggested weapons are to old, or never used by any army.
