Problem is, defending strategic locations doesn't get you points (well maybe one point if you have a kill in flag zone). That's why you have 31 out of 32 people spawning on the front CP. Spawn quick, kill quick, get points. This is why people charge in with M203s and grenades. Even if they get one kill for four deaths, they still rack up points. Which is why I continue to argue that people who have this mentality should have a fraction of their deaths subtracted from their score. Either that or a server setting to specifiy number of max respawns per player. Then maybe people might try something more interesting than head-on charges. Most here seem to disagree and are content with arcade style no matter how repetitive it becomes.

Karkland is a great map abused by grenade launcher noobs and constant artillery spam.

For such a great urban map, it makes it too easy for GL users noobs spam every corner. Too much power for a player to have.

Then the constant artillery when you finally make a move into a flagpoint is annoying. You push and push in and finally you have broken the enemy grenade spam on the hill only to have it backed up by the constant artillery rain. Just needs to be toned down.

Fix these and Karkland will be a skilled paradise someday.

I agree, if they could somehow disable art and grenades from being used at all, I'd be there all day.

Well you tell the good players on the map vs the "noobs" (shrugs). Good players are on the flanks attacking or defending flags. Once the flanks are broken good players are going to "for example" sniping moving targets and were best set their mines. I like to sniper hunt this map as a sniper because if you make a bad decision the noobs will nade spam the hell out of ya. Because a bunny hopin' noobtubin' nade spamer makes you a better shot.

BTW does any think that tanks should have soft spot for sniping the driver.

The key to this map (32 player) for the USMC is avoiding a head on assault of the first flag. Hop in a Hummer go to the North West flag, then immediatley to the MEC base. Now you have taken pressure off of the first point, taken away their armor, hopefully taken out their commanders assets, and can attack from 3 different directions. Since most of the noobs are waiting in the first alleys with their GP30s, you can usually take all of the flags (if squads are moving together you can do this with ease) and start camping the first point instead of blindly running into grenades over and over again.

Yeah, SaK would be the best ever *if*...

                      1) Artillery was reduced or removed
                      2) MEC had an uncappable flag on all sizes(just one would be nice)
                      3) EA paid me for every minute I spend on SaK

mm, yes. turning a corner, jumping, and firing a 203 four feet away into the ground takes skill.

it's gp-30/203 hell in that southernmost flag, cause of all those alleys.

Not quite. It takes much more skill to fight in the urban environment than race around in a FAV from flag to flag.
Karkand is not a "noob magnet" as you have stated. Yes, there are noobs that get on these servers (like any other server) but they are easy pickings for the l337 players. I think noobs do good in showing up at these servers since they can learn from other mor experienced players.
I play on a server that rotates the three urban combat maps: Karkand, Sharqi (my personal favorite) and Mashtuur. Don't have the IP but the server name is Bravo Sierra.

                              Not true.
The team that usually wins is the team that exmploys TEAMWORK the best. If you have some l337 medics on your side, rest assured you WILL WIN. Its not about a particular flag cap its about TEAMWORK.

                                Again...its about TEAMWORK.
The first flag is crutial for the defenders since with it they can spawn near the ONLY entry way that the USMC has into the city.
The issue remains...TEAMWORK. People need to create effective squads and the SL need to stay alive for team mates to respawn near them.
...and then you have the issue of l337 medics...
