They should of done some formula in the rank, the only thing it means now is how much of a life (or lack of) you have. Should be formulated on skill..
What's up with the n00b seargeant

Well how fast you progress on ranks really depends on the maps you play on.
If you play on kubra dam or some other map you might not do so well because its an OPEN map and not a lot of close action.
If you are playing something close combat like karkand, mashur or sharqi then points go up higher

uh...that's pathetic. If you can't post at least a 2:1 as a lone wolf, you blow.Originally posted by ChubzStats mean nothing;
For me it depends on how good my team is and whether or not they will actually help one another, form squads, etc.
Sometimes if I get into a game where my team is absolutely horrible I end up getting a 1:2 or even 1:3 kill/death ratio.
If I get on a good team, my usual kill/death ratio is 2:1 or higher at times. Sadly, finding a "good" team is harder for me than anything. I guess that's why like 50% of the time I'll leave a game before the round is even over. I can't deal with being stuck on the nublet team.Comment

man, how do you find a time to look at ranks? the other night opposing force owned us and all i could do is just franticaly switch between classes to throw some mines, blow a tank, revive a teammate. don't care about ranks, just get angry when loosing. i don't play often online, but without communicating well i think i just did what teamplay is about. playing one class all the time (tank whore. lol) is not helping team, that's my 2 cents.Comment

That isn't true, although I usually get around 75-100+ points on Karkand, I am able to get 100 points on Kubra Dam, it just depends what you do, and how good you are with it.Originally posted by CoderedplWell how fast you progress on ranks really depends on the maps you play on.

In general terms(90% of players) if you have this ranks at begin august=Originally posted by rombaftmost of the time when you meet a seargeant, you can asume he has some skills, because playing a lot will give you skils and knowledge over every map there is.
but sometimes, they may be skilled , but they are just goofing around, I do it to sometimes, everyone I think, just flying, driving, walking around for fun and do some useless stuff
Private = noob(just bought game)
Private Firts class = *same
Lance Corporal = proved himself
Corporal = skilled
Sergeant = skilled
Staff Sergeant = Highly skilled(stat padding suspicisions)
Gunnery Sergeant = Awesome ( eXP Elektric is almost there so i included it)(stat padding suspicsions)Comment

If you want to see how good someone really is just look at their score compared to their overall playtime on bf2stats. Someone may have 50,000 but took 300 hours to get there. Someone may have 25,000 and got there in 100 hours.
The 25,000 guy would be the better player because if he kept going at that rate he would have 75,000 by the time he hit 300 hours. k/d ratio means nothing either. Some people concentrate on doing what the support classes are meant to do ie heal/revive/supply instead of running around like a 1 man army and build up most of their score through teampoints.
I've got a pretty crappy k/d ratio but I'm ranked 95 or something overall for teampoints because I whore my ass out flying the bhawk and obviously don't get any kills while doing it but get shot down a fair bit.Comment

Get off the rank wagon. Is your life that meaningless that you may spend 15 minutes ranting and raving about how you died a 2nd time and thus 'punished' they squad leader by leaving the squad?
This is a video game...designed to be a vehicle for fun and enjoyment.
You speak of rank as if it is the be-all / end-all. EA dropped the ball when they invented this little rank system and the mindless masses buy into it like good little n00b sheep.
I've been playing this game since day one of its recent release. I've had numerous games where I scored very well and if I was on a rank server...I would have uber 1337 energiez with "Can't touch this" sauce. Yet, I don't feel cheated or wronged when someone crashes a helo or gets killed a second time in a game with dozens of other players.
Stop worrying about the damn rank. If you sit around with a MG long enough you will get rank thru padding. Even then, you'll still be a noob who will always punish an accidental TK just so you can have your petty revenge.
Even so, as a gaming community...we should all be lobbying EA/DICE to drop this rank BS and let us play the game we paid for.
Further more...rank is not indicitive of skill set. I play on unranked servers to shield myself for the no-talent kiddies who just want to get points for rank and/or TK people for vehicles. If I go on a ranked server, my rank will be low yet I consider myself to be an excellent player. Having skill isnt the point...the point is having fun.Comment

That's why u got ur purple heart?
I'll be hitting Sgt. in this week hopefully... Most of ppl after few rounds with me in 1st 5 players are following me on city maps and teamworking (they even join my squad, lol).
And it's really nice to see private first class support giving covering fire while assault (private) throw smokenades and antitank get jeep out of us. Those 'low ranked' players had more skills than lance corporals who can't throw ammopack when you need it, but they do all the time when you dont.Comment
