    Think about this..

I'm a good player and i'm a sergeant, but after reaching the rank of sergeant i'm pretty much over the game because I know im not gonna get staff sergeant, **** 50,000 points. So I just play and don't really put much care into it, sometimes I TK for planes and choppers just cuz I don't care about my score anymore.

      Staff seargant = 50k

You have 25k..You've already made 25k and you can make it again. Think about it that way but don't think about the numbers. Just be like..I've made it once, I can make it again.

Don't even try for the next rank until you get relatively close.

I just have to make a statement here... I mean, I'm on vacation, and I do find time to play at it, because time is what you're supposed to have when you're on vacation. Or is that just me and all other people I know? :P

btw, being such a high rank has it's somewhat less expected advantages. last night i, ehrm, accidentaly flew into a friendly helicopter, twice. they didn't punish me one single time. I said like sorry and all that and he was like "don't bother, I like your rank" like wtf? ^^ very nice though

As somebody else said without throwing out any insults, rank is not neccessarily proportional to "skill" level (whatever you're definition of skill is).

As time goes along you will be hard pressed to find anybody who ISNT a sargeant or higher and of course there will always be the guys who are like 2 ranks above the apparent norm...there can be any number of reasons for this, theyre awesome and can get mucho points in a short time or just play a hell of a lot.

My KDR has been around 1.5-2:1 recently but it used to be really bad so I am bringing it up. And just because someone dies a lot doesn't mean that they don't get a lot of points.

Ever heard of MMORPGs? Games with stats, ranks, uber magic swords, anything basically that's an incentive to play, will create addicts. I play too much BF2 too as well, I don't deny it.

I would say a lot of the guys who get in such absurdly high playtime are high school / college students, especially the high school kids who have nothing better to do in the summer. When I was in college I definitely used to get my share of gametime in....maybe upwards of 40 hours a week...it was sad. :)

Just to add to my previous comment, why does KDR even matter so much? Your SPM isn't much higher than mine, and my accuracy rate is much higher than yours. We could compare stats all day.

You can easily finish in first place with more deaths than kills. I tend to get more teamwork points than combat points and I have a pretty horrific KDR.

Agreed, its seems however when in game if someone has a higher rank, they are portraid as invincible and can take on entire squads of infanty with nothing but there knife, oh and shoot bolts of lightning out his arse...

For the first time yesterday i played against/with players who ranked 1st and 2nd in the world eXp.ElekTriC and [TR]Dissb both staff sargents, i didnt know what to expect, they are both really good players, however ive played against private 1st class players who play just aswell.

Moral of the story... rank looks pretty in game but doesnt mean your any better than players who rank lower then you.

i agree, it just means they spend to long on the game :P only reason i go for ranks is for unlocks :P

SOmetimes I like to jihad jeep. I don't get many points but its definitely more fun than monotonous flag capping for hours on end.
                                Agree 100%,

ive reached Corporal, and next rank is ages away for me, at the moment im on there just to have fun, ill help the clan out, go spec ops, sniper etc, and generally just have fun,

Im sure when i get close to 25k ill work on the points more, but at the moment i don't care.

And even i can have a shocking round, remember once where i managed to tk 4 people in a row. lucky they didnt punish me, for the rest of the round i was stuffed, managed to do all the noob things like crash planes into choppers etc.
