Oh totally snowman i'm going to ride down a street at 41kmph that's like 20 yards long in a 68.7 ton tank.

These things aren't slow. I've seen them in person and they're pretty damned fast. And don't think it goes slow because it's 70 tons. This thing has a 1,500 hp turbine engine, and can haul ass.
In-game, I found that an infantry "walks" at about 8mph (which is closer to a jog), and sprints at about 14.7mph (which is about how fast you can run with full gear).
Both of these are very reasonable. When it comes to heavy armor, like the M1A2 Abrams, it clocks in at 22.1mph. Half of it's top speed, and this was on a runway. The tank in the realism mod is substantially slower, meaning it probably goes at about 15-12mph, about sprint speed. I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure the Army and USMC want a tank that can outrun a human...
All tests were conducted approaching a flag from a specified distance.Comment

I don't know what to call this kind of posts....Originally posted by Sn0wManThis "realism" mod, if you want to call it that, is a joke. Tanks don't move that slow, ever. They move slow enough in BF2. Abrams M1A2 has a top speed of 41 mph, and a rough terrain speed of approximately 30 mph. The damage system to helicopters is ridiculous. 24 rounds from an M16A2 destroys it, while a shot from a stinger doesn't? The USMC LAV has the worst spread I've ever seen, and your "realism" gravity makes it twice as bad. You'd be lucky to hit anything with that.
Methinks you fellas need to look at a few more "real world" specs before you call this a realism mod.
Snowman, you need to work on your forum skills. Seriously. Insulting the work of team BFE is not the way to offer constructive critcism.
Thank you for your kind words.

There is a difference from Cruising Speed and Battle Speed, get off of fas.org. Your car (if your even old enough to drive) has a TOP speed too... do you drive your car at its TOP speedaround town?Originally posted by Sn0wManThese things aren't slow. Thanks for dissing the mod just b/c you dont like the speed of tanks. We are doing all this with out Mod Tools and all you can do is ***** and complain because YOU dont like a feature WE put in OUR mod... As far as I can see the only problem with the MBT's that is a major problem; is that we need to figure out how to seperate driver from the gunner.Comment

thanks for the info :)Originally posted by Garrison0586The Code is in the actual weapon tweak file... But beware b/c we have found issues when trying to change the pilot class one... DICE has given this engine the bare minimums to make it do what it wants like usual.Comment

Hmmm I ran some testing and Sn0man is right about the damage system to helicopters. It seems like a bug/oversight to me as I don't think its intentional. Anyway it affect more than just the helicopters. These air vehicles are affected by it:
1) F-15
2) F-18
3) Cobra (AH-Z1?)
4) Blackhawk
5) J-10
If you shoot the cockpit of ANY of these vehicles then they are heavily damaged by any gun. You can flat out destory these vehicles using one clip of pretty much any gun (even pistol). I noticed that there seems to be an absence of glass around the cockpit as shots seem to go right through the vehicle. All the other air vehciles don't seem to be affected by this and you notice the glass when you shoot the cockpit. The armor for the rest of the vehcile seems to be fine. Only cockpit shots (lol) seem to do an unusal amout of damage.
Also I noticed the grenade launcher does a hefy amount of damage to choppers/planes as well. Is this accurrate? I thought frag grenades aren't very damaging to armored vehicles.
Overall I LOVE the mod an cant wait until the next version and dedicated server support. The only crash I get is when entering the Tunguska and PZG-95 (I think) mobile AA vehicles for the MEC and PLA. Enetering those causes an immediate crash to desktop.
The only disagreement I have is how the engineers mines kill both people and vehicles. I'd rather you guys keep it to vehicles only and perhaps add anti-personnel mines in the future. The mines currently negate the usefulness of claymores.
Great job though. When some servers start popping up I'm dropping vanilla BF2 like a hot potatoe.
Two questions though:
1) Did you guys intentionally NOT give the PLA a target designator? The grenadier class for the PLA doesnt get one but a smoke grenade isntead. Both USA and MEC grenadiers get the target designator though.
2) What's the function of the secondary missles for the Cobra pilot? Are they heat seeking or laser guided (like the 2nd position on the SU-34)? Its hard for me to test without playing against other people.Comment

Ok one other suggestion (that's me above--I spelled my handle wrong at registration :P)--please add some sort of sway to the zoomed-in sniper rifles. I didnt notice any sway while standing/crouching/prone. We don't want any rail guns, heh.
EDIT:
Also been wondering why the fighter/bombers (F-15, SU-34, etc) get five bombs when there are clearly only three visible? DICE makes me wonder sometimes. You guys gonna change it to three bombs? Also where the heck are the weapons on the F-35? No weapons are visible on its in-game model.
Finally the sniper (designated marksman) is missing his ghille suit. I dunno if this is an oversight or if you guys intentionally removed it.Comment
