CoD4 is gonna kill BF2142 and BF2. Big time.

Well I thought about it, I think CoD4 is gonna be too...constrained. Let me explain.

In 2142 you can set personal goals for yourself like knifing the top 100, or becoming the #1 Clark/tank/whatever user in the world. In CoD4 you can't set any goals for yourself...you just play. Maybe if CoD had an individual stats system for each weapon so you can see who's #1 with each weapon it would be a little more interesting.

I think infantry combat might get boring after a while as people want vehicles, choppers, stats etc.

I see your point, but I think you are forgetting something. CoD4 does have a lot of things to do. Every weapon has challenges; when you complete these challenges you unlock cool stuff like new skins etc. etc. CoD also has stats (my clan will rent a ranked server ASAP). I'm not sure whether you can see who's #1 with each weapon, but there is gonna be stat tracking.
And think of it this way: the stat tracking system in bf2142 caused a lot of statspadders. Less stat tracking is less statpadding.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say, but I did play. I played for a long time and I know all the ins and outs of Bf. Holland is a stupid country anyway so I don't care if I put us at shame Not that I did that though.. but whatever. I'm not shouting at anyone here, I'm just curious about what people think about CoD4, and how much of a thrat CoD4 poses to Bf's population.

Dear community (or should I say dear collection of smacktards hugging nades, rockets, and claymores?),

It's been a long while since I played 2142. But I did it again last week, only to be HORRIBLY disappointed. After 5 months of not-playing, I still was the Clark king of Holland. Mkay. PK rockets were even more spammed then before. Mkay. Game could be called KrylovField2142, as that gun still is overpowered like I don't know what. Mkay. Patch still isn't out yet. Mkay....

I then proceeded to start up Bf2. I join a random Sharqi server (inf only, no need to have some noob in a helo go 70-1). I see an enemy, open fire with the M16. He turns around, makes a looping, poops out three nades in 3 seconds and I die. Repeat that 20 times, and you've got some sort of a summary about the rest of this "game" (seeing as it is frustrating as hell to get killed by the same black colored tennisball over and over and over and over again.. boring).
Next round: <b>Karkand.</B>
Game starts, Sergeant TehDutchDude charges Karkand, only to hear some sort of a hardcore remix of explosions. BOOM BOOM BOOM BADDABOOM. Mkay.

I then proceed to start the CoD4 SP demo. Entered the cheats, grabbed an Mp5, and set the timescale to 0.4. <u>H-o-l-y-c-ra-p.</U> I can't describe the awesomeness of popping an Achmed through the walls with my Mp5.

The entire BF franchise will die when this game comes out. At least, that's what I think. Call of Duty 4 has awome guns, awesome graphics, interesting (and PK free) gameplay, and the MP part will make sure it stays no 1 in online gameplay for a looooong time.

2142 has a very gay community (no pk spam is not considered brave and heroic -.-). 2142 has boring graphics (look a wite building). 2142 has horrible balance (yes Krylov IS mega overpowered). 2142 has nothing.


2 has laughable balance (Gay36E? What a joke. That thing can be considered a parody on modern age FPS games). 2 has the most lamest, gayest, noobiest, stupidest, and just completely point addicted community ever. What's so fun about the whole nadespam thing? I don't get it. What's so fun about blasting people with an M67? Why can people dance in the air dodging 30 M16 bullets? Why oh why is Medic so ridiculously overpowered? Ea roxxorz.

2 and 2142 don't have to fear Crysis (my 8800GTS is not recommended for Crysis, lol whatever.) 2 and 2142 have to fear CoD, BIG time.

What do you guys think? Will these two games bleed to a slow and painful death when CoD4 is released? Will you buy CoD? Will you actually quit Bf?

You definitely sound like the kind of person who needs a single player game on easy to avoid getting owned. I don't know why you think you can take a 5 month break and be the king of BF2. I also don't know why you decided to play infantry only (and I'll bet FF was off too). Play on servers w/ FF on so that people are less likely to nade spam. You picked the server out, so maybe next time pick a server w/ good settings before you complain about things that you can avoid.

Your problem is that you have classified all the different weapons as good or bad and you seem to expect people not to use the ones you consider bad. I'm willing to bet that you'll draw the same conclusions about CoD4 after playing online and we'll see you bitching all over TotalCoD about how the noobs are killing you with the new noob weapons.

CoD4 *MIGHT* be a good game for multiplayer and it might be crap. Personally, since there is no multiplayer demo I have zero interest in giving them $50 to find out if they did a good job on multiplayer or not. Since BF2 and 2142 are purely multiplayer, CoD4 is definitely not trying too hard to win me over. Most of my clan hasn't even given CoD4 a second glance and our BF2 servers are more popular than ever before so BF2 isn't going anywhere, anytime soon. I do think 2142 is already dying, but I don't expect CoD4 to finish it off.

And i don't think there's going to be a smacktard-free FPS any time soon (unlike the OP seems to think), because they still can't program the maturity of 12-year old players into the games code.

I play on FF on servers, 16-32 players.
Played the demo on hardest mode and had a lot of fun. You see, I like challenges, and yes, I distinguish some guns as good or bad. I don't expect people to not use the 'bad'guns, but it does piss me off when EVERYONE is using them, and whene everyone seems to think that it is actually hard to use those guns. The gun balance in CoD4 seems very, very good. You won't hear me whine about guns in CoD4, as all the guns are good. You will hear me whine about the retarded 10 year olds playing the game

You're right, we do give a damn after all :) Every time i see a thread for example about supposed balance issues between certain guns, i just have to read it to find out where they got it wrong this time
