But if I understand you correctly, I can name the account SecretName, and still be able to play as Vreki. But if I want to add someone to my friendlist, I will need to tell them that my account is SecretName?
Yes, you can change your nickname in all multiplayer Steam games except TF2, which uses your Steam ID, not your steam login name. Your SteamID is what is on your friends Friends Lists. You change it after you have logged in. I can see how it is pretty confusing for those who don't know much or do not follow Steam, especially the new Communities feature.

The spy does NOT have complete invisiblity... you can still see him cloaked... it's just hard to notice him... they have a "sheen" sort of you can see.
Spies are COMPLETELY different. The way they play makes them seem more like spies than an attacking force. In TFC, even mediocre spies usually get more shotgun/grenade kills than backstabs. No one used/uses the tranq either.

And the cloaking sheen you speak of only occurs when you bump into someone, when you take damage, and when you see a spy on your team invisible. For all intents and purposes, it IS completely invisible, and spies are a HUGE step up from TFC ones.

Again, the games play completely different. Engineers have to sit with their turrets, medics are better support players, sniper is no longer the best class in the game, Scout/Pyro/Demoman is useful for more than niche strategies, and most of the maps have entirely new gameplay modes. Come to think of it, 2fort, dustbowl, hydro, and well are the only "ported" maps, and of those only 2fort and dustbowl play like their ancestors, and even THEN they have a completely different style.

      Agreed with that entire post.

Anyway, if you're still confused, think about it like this, you got three names.

Steam login: (nobody but you knows)

Steam name: (people only look at it when they want to friend you, except in TF2.

In game name: In CS, CS:S, DOD, and all steam mods (since HL2DM is a joke of a game ), you get to make a seperate in game name. This sometimes made it hard to friend people after you left a server, which I guess was the reason it was taken out of TF2, which uses your Steam Name as your in-game.

To be honest I am still a bit unsure which name will show up when I log info TF2
No big deal though, I will find out soon enough.

I am bumping this because I just noticed that we now have a Total HL site too, with (empty) subforums for Portal, TF2 etc.
But they seem to somehow have forgotten "Peggle Extreme"

i DL'ed the standalone TF2 and tried it out, and was rather disappointed. it is really smooth and runs like a champ, but it's missing the realism element that i enjoy in BF. i somewhat regret buying the game.

                        LOL

You bought TF2, and expected a realistic game?

"Hey guys, you heard of this new game called Unreal Tournament 3? Yeah, its supposed to be this badass modern day realistic squad based tactical shooter."

I'm sorry you're not satistfied with it. I'm totally addicted to the game play of TF2. The class interaction makes it very rewarding to team up with others.
