Same here, and FWIW I never patched to 1.4. Been using 1.25 the whole time. Every once in a blue moon it'll connect me the first time, but about 90% of the time (apparently, blue moons are a 10% probability, then? ) it won't work the first time. Works just swimmingly the second time, though.

1.25 for me, same thing, just the first time when I try to get into a game, after that its fine

Don't get this problem at all.

What I do get though is whilst browsing servers, looking at BFHQ, changing settings, basically anything that isn't gameplay, if I click it acts as if I pressed Alt + Tab. Happens once at some random point and then won't happen again.

I had this once plus what the OP said.


I guess the connection fail is a gamespy issue due an "upgrade" like all the server browser issues that happened before.

If you leave it on the server browser screen for a long time, the same thing will happen again when you eventually try to join a server. I found this out last night leaving the game alt-tabbed for a while.

Yep, for me it's the first connection attempt after starting up the game. Second attempt, whether on same or different server always works. Switching servers later always works with no connection lost. It's just the first attempt of the night.

I get this but with the initial log in screen. I haven't been able to play 2142 for over a month because of this. Everything other game works fine so I just live with it.

Same here...............just be thankful that nothing else negative happens.

For me, it's every time I start up the game. Normally, yes, this would only be once a night, but seeing as how I get at least one CTD per night, I have to restart the game multiple times per night of gameplay.
