And since BF2142 is an online game, if the majority of people who bought the game aren't playing online, what are they doing with the BF2142 they've bought?

There are never more than 10-20k people playing at once? That's reasonable... There is very possibly over a million total players. Many of them might have played once or not even played but registered an account. I'd estimate there are around 500,000-700,000 people who actually play the game (or more than 5 hour a month).

      So what?
What is relevant in this case in the number of people who play the game, not the number of people who play the game at the same time.

Lets say the average player spend 10 hour a week on BF2142. A average of 10k concurrent players would mean that there are 10000*24*7/10 = 168000

So a low estimate would say that 168k are playing BF2142, and that is the number that is relevant when you want to know the number of potential byers.

EA of course don't have to estimate anything since they can just do a query to their database and see how many distinct users has been logged in the last week, month, year or whatever.

        Complete BS article!
Whether the article is BS or not does not make them unreliable, Fuad Abazovic is the owner and Editor for Fudzilla, he started his own site after writing for http://www.theinquirer.net/, and if you read their site the punctuation and grammar are not perfect, hell not even any where in the ballpark of perfect, but it is at least humorous and they are fairly close to being accurate...most of the time, I have the RSS for the site on my Google page.
The Inq is also British and we know how the brits are with grammar:laugh:

On the topic of a possible booster, i cant even begin to think of what i would want....maybe useful unlocks, then maps for EVERYONE<---I think this should be a requirement for all addons

Playing offline of course. I own BF2142 and have yet to play it online. I've downloaded multiple sp/coop add-ons which make the game quite good. I also play BF2 at Lan Parties with other guys who prefer private games as opposed to public online games, but every now and then we go online.

Granted I'm sure alot more people play online than off, but there *is* a group out there who enjoy private games with just their buds, or maybe solo. We have 3500 registered members at battlefieldsingleplayer, and unregistered users visit all the time.
