DICE did say no more booster packs/expansions for 2142, but when you have almost a million people playing 2141, they'll have to think twice about what they said now won't they?

As for NS being sold in stores, this is a new one for me, I thought it was only thru EAL, but they're just selling the serial keys?! That sounds awesome, in a way I guess. Well, if you prefer downloading off the net and not being able to install the game via CD/DVD.

They said they listened to the community and weren't planning to release any more at the time. Not that they were never going to release any. And they were only referring to boosters. Unless there was another post that everyone seems to be referring to, expansions and boosters are still possibilities.

Yeah they said no more boosters at the TIME, they never said NO MORE PERIOD nor did they say anything about no expansion, so yes it could be possible,

Maybe they needed to reach a certain amount of NS purchases in order for them to choose to make another one or not, but anyways, i want an EXPANSION pack, with more content, not just 3 maps. I want more armies, weapons, vehicles, maps, awards, unlocks.

HEY! I just got an idea... some of us should PM a DICE member who uses these forums and show him/her this thread! See what he/she has to say...

I would definitely start playing 2142 again if they released a Special Forces expansion for it, or something akin to it anyway. I loved Special Forces, and wa saddened when all the servers disappeared.

BF2 still has more players than BF2142.

Personally I believe DICE and EA should made BF2142 an expansion pack for BF2 and continued support the for whole BF2 series and continued building upon that which had already proven successful.

I think that EA/Dice should finish that second booster with the United States content (found buried in the BF2142 files) and sell it online via EA Link; and at the same time sell the NS and this new booster via CD/DVD on store shelves simultaneously (BF2142 booster pack collection for 20 USD).

I'm used to getting a new BF fix every fall, this year will be the first time nothing new is available for BF on the market .

Plz Dice, don't break a good tradition.

No thanks, I kind of like the possibility to play at least one game where the U.S. isn't present.
Killing yanks get a bit stale after the 6th million time.

I don't consider BF: Bad Company a real BF game, more like a variant to the FPS "Black." I spend the majority of my time in sp/coop, and this game has no coop. I prefer mass battles of army vs army in sp/coop and in BF:BC you only have 3 friendlies, hardly what I consider a battlefield. :hmm:

EA/Dice have made all these statements about focusing on sp with this game, but have dropped many of the features that made BF so original and engrossing in the production of Bad Company.

I already own a 360, but with the above mentioned reasons have no intention of getting Bad Company. To me it's not a real Battlefield game.

Hasn't Bad Company's release date been pushed back anyway? I heard it won't be out till 2008 now.

                    Back on topic:

So Dice won't have anything to sell for this Christmas season, first time in years (PC or otherwise).

                    2142 Booster pack collection plz.

I can't imagine getting any more unlocks into the game, the last booster pretty much maxed out the screen space.

A map-pack booster like the ones released for BF2 would be okay if it brought enough new vehicles into the game, maybe even a new design for the Titan.

I know DICE is afraid to deviate from conquest game mode but I think it would be cool to have a game mode that was more objective driven where you had to perform tasks like destroying a shield generator or hack a console to advance, something a little more like ‘Defend and Destroy’ mode from Tribes. Two bases, several key objectives, the first team to take out the other teams assets wins the round.

I'm talking about the sp. I can't play online at home because I have satellite (no DSL, broadband, etc available). If I do play online with my PC titles, I have to carry my PC to some other residence. It's very rare that I ever go online with my BF games.

If I ever did get a chance to try BF:BC online, it'd be at a friend's house. 24 players itself is a downgrade from what PC Battlefield titles offer, which offer 64 player skirmishes (I love mass battles, it's invigorating).

What's more, BF:BC has nothing to do with BF2142, totally different theatre. I'm hoping we get to see *something* new added to BF2142, or at least an official editor with mapping tools. I'm very thankful they gave us "Highway Tampa", very cool of them to do that.

I see your problem, but i think BF:BC is the way forward, and its not supposed to be army style, they are renegades trying to escape and so its a bit about stealth and working in a small team.

The new frostbite engine is brilliant with everything being destructible, it will make online experiences far more enjoyable instead of, "im behind a fence, that tank cant get me here", its a far more realistic environment and one im very much looking forward too.

Big battles across huge battlefields with huge armies is what Battlefield "feel" has always been to me.

The console BFs just don't feel like the PC ones. They're different.

It took roughly 5 months before the first booster for BF2142 was released (after BF2142's release). If any new booster is going to materialize we should catch wind about it (announcements/promotion) in Aug/Sept, which would be in time for the Christmas shopping season. Dice needs to have something to pay the bills, since BF:Bad company won't be out till 2008. http://xbox360.ign.com/objects/713/713943.html

Like said before EA/Dice didn't say there would *never* be anymore boosters, just none planned at the time of that interview.

It would be nice if a Dice rep could official say yea/nay for some definitive closure on the topic. I really want to purchase more for BF2142, but I can't bring myself to pay and download an add-on (I'd be very comfortable with a store bought one though).
