Another Booster...

I've heard enough people declaring technical problems to steer me away from EA downloader. I've suffered such things in the past from other programs/software, as mishaps are common when dealing with computers and programs, so I tend to stick with the 'safer/simpler route' like CDs/DVDs. :)
Especially considering the fact that my home bandwidth is extremely limited being on satellite. Redownloading a file over 150 megs is almost impossible, and if it *is* possible takes days thanks to hughesnet's Fair Access Policy.
If I have a mistake/oopsie with a CD/DVD, I just pop it in and go. Downloading and backing up NS on hard disk sounds good, I would hate to think if my download ended up being corrupt in the first place and having to do it again (and the techinals that go with that, like billing issues, support, etc).Comment

NS was worth it and I would buy another booster if they want to make it. EA Link worked fine for me, was playin after few minutes. Be nice if they could mail you a disc if you couldn't download it.Comment

I got the booster the standard way, but this is supposed to work:- Log in to EA link on any computer, just remember to use the account you have BF2142 registered to
- While you are there, check that "My account->Downloads info->Battlefield 2 account name" matches the soldier you want to play the booster with
- Purchase the booster.
- Get a copy of the downloaded file from a friend. Its called "C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EA Link\cache\<SOME RANDOM NUMBER>\bf2142_bp1\setup.exe"
- Install the booster
- Reapply the latest patch
That way you never have to download the booster, as long as you know someone who has it or are willing to let you download it on their PC.Comment

Id buy the NS booster almost just for the support infantry radar, It almost feels like cheating sometimes.
I hope they do make a decision on a booster soon, I want to be able to keep a few unlock credits so I dont have to work for a few weeks to use some of the functionality of the new unlocks. That is, assuming that a new booster/expansion will have new unlocks.Comment

After playing Highway Tampa, I realized that new maps are going to keep me occupied for maybe two days. I'm so very very tired of the same old stuff. I'd like some new unlocks, some new awards, some new vehicles (preferably a new air vehicle or two).Comment

Very true, Steam provides an excellent service when it comes to downloading games online, i have never once had a problem whereas on EA downloader i cant even play the NS that i bought, it keeps telling me i need to purchase it again.Comment

EALink works just fine for me.
But STEAM is the king of buying and downloading games online.
I love STEAM.Comment

I heard all the slots for unlocks was full. I'd be content with new maps, new vehicles, and some new player models (if they indeed *do* a USA scenerio) for a second booster pack.
One thing they really need for this game, is a heavy bomber ship. I know they have titans, but I mean something not quite as big that can be piloted/manuvered by players more quickly and drop bombs. Something reminescent of BF1942's B-17s.

im hoping, well praying that because EA are publishing for valve now that some of their games will get onto steam, THQ have put their games on it, i think it would be great if bf was released onto itComment

Very unlikely. Since EA has their own method of digital distribution, it would be counter productive to them to support a competitor of same distribution method.Comment

There is NOT a million ppl playing bf2142... those are game sales... check game monitor.com, there's never more than 10-20k ppl playing bf2142DICE did say no more booster packs/expansions for 2142, but when you have almost a million people playing 2141, they'll have to think twice about what they said now won't they?
As for NS being sold in stores, this is a new one for me, I thought it was only thru EAL, but they're just selling the serial keys?! That sounds awesome, in a way I guess. Well, if you prefer downloading off the net and not being able to install the game via CD/DVD.Comment
