    Another Booster...

Some websites seem be spreading rumors of another booster pack... sounds strange.

Reliable industry sources are saying that DICE is hard at work on a second downloadable Booster Pack for 2142. Unlike Battlefield 2 which received a full expansion pack in the form of Special Forces, DICE is opting to change it up and deliver another Booster Pack for 2142 before considering the release of an expansion pack.

With the number of 2142 players hovering at only 1.3 million world wide, it has been said that DICE is not sure if the effort that is required to do a full expansion pack for 2142 would be worth it at this time. The delivery of another Booster Pack is a bit easier for DICE to get out the door quicklywhich makes Battlefield 2142 fans happy.

DICE is not giving any indication on how well the first Booster Pack for 2142 (Northern Strike) sold and it is difficult to know since it was only available for download direct via EA Link. One can assume however that with the low production cost of a Booster Pack (which contains only a couple of new maps and some weapons) and the increased profit of using a direct electronic distribution model that they must have made a few dollars to makethem consider delivering another one.

Look for the 1.40 Patch for 2142 with the Bonus Highway Tampa map to come out later this month or early next month, followed by an announcement of a new Booster Pack for 2142.

They dont get it do they? They can make more money if they make an expansion pack with lots more content then a booster.

I'm not clicking on something that's been made difficult to read without highlighting and contains the word "fudzilla" in the url.

Can't say I really give a toss any more if it's true. They've whored themselves too much since they started with the booster pack horse **** that I'm just not surprised by how ****ty dice are when it comes to content.

    Development costs my arse.

If they're going to make another Booster, they should release it in stores so that other people are also capable of purchasing it, thus more people playing the Booster.

I didn't see why NS should have only sold on EA Link, unless it was just to promote it.

anyone else go "uhhh what?" at this? Like...am I missing something? Don't games lose people over time not gain them? Wouldn't that make now better then later for putting out a full ex-pack?

I have a feeling that explanation is just a load of rubbish, weras the real reason is probably that boosters are much easier and quicker to make and distribute online, takes very little effort, for allmost instant cash.

Eh Thats true but Its both. I just bought BF2 whole collection just for fun since I get bored of BF2142 sometime So They gained another player which is me. Plus the new booster pack would get players play BF2142 more or other gamers buy bf2142 and the BP but Yea They should release an exspansion pack because i would definely buy it if its any good.

I am not sure that is true.
The production costs are fixed regardless of how many they sell.
So if they are unsure of the BF2142 market, it makes sense to take a smaller risk with a booster pack. They are also able to get it out faster, if they fear that the player base is declining.

And I understand why they choose digital distribution, there is lesser cost and no risk of unsold stock.
I don't mind downloading a game, but I wish it would be the DVD version with a license key, instead of depending on EA link.

DICE clearly stated that they were NOT going to create any more booster packs.

I agree, EA link is a nightmare. I bought BF2 Special Forces from the EA dowlaoder and now its not showing in my games!! so can't play that game until I wait for their technical support to sort it (its in my to do list).

Anyway, back to the topic.....agreed there maybe a decline in BF2142 players online (and it will get worse, say for example; when Crysis is released, for me that means the EA have got to make an extra effect in keeping people interested.....and I'd like to see some improvement in an Expansion Pack!

Crysis is EA, IMO when thats released they really wont give a **** about BF2142 < because it will be Crysis and Bad Company they will concentrate on.

i liked NS for awhile but the shiny'ness wore off

i think if the made something that was more better surroundings rather than OMG SNOW! maps and new weapons in the form of GUNS rather than toys =P

well this is untrue since well iv been to loads of shops in the Uk like HMV, Virgin Game, and Pc World, AND all of them sell the booster pack in a case (no cd just a case with the code inside to put into EA link)

do with the name of the site u used makes me wonder if it is actually true or not

I thought we established that it was fake already? Its got quite a few punctuation mistakes too.

And it sounds like a 10 year old wrote it.
