2142 had that where if you selected armor (which was default I believe) then your sprint dropped.

Would that change anyones mind or infinite sprint still?

    Crunch
    This could be interesting.

What if every class starts at a specific sprint time, something like 180+ seconds (that's a pretty long time when you think about it... I hardly every spring that long). Each item/weapon/gadget has a specific weight and decreases sprint time by a certain number of seconds, rather than changing top sprinting speed. I can nearly run just as fast with 30lb extra weight than unhindered, but just not for as long.

So an assault rifle maybe drops it by 20 seconds, an LMG by 40, and a SMG by 10. Equipping AT rocket instead of mines, could make a huge difference then like 30% of sprint time or something, that would really effect gameplay and how you use certain weapons. You could plan out how you want to play a certain round and customize your kit to give you more mobility and speed or more firepower.

If actually sprinting speed were effected too much, I think it would make it harder for squads to easily stick together, since I don't see how you could easily change your sprint speed. If it's just the sprint time that's decreased, squads could sprint as far as the member with the least time, recuperate as a squad in a safe position, and continue moving, or something like that.

I was thinking something along those lines after reading Crunch's suggestion but I figured that might be a little too RPG-ish for most.

A little too RPG-ish but mainly too complicated for what Dice have in mind. I think they want to keep things simple.

You really think so? Look how complicated BC2 is along with the type of weapons and options for weapons and all that. I mean, everyone chooses magnum ammo or body armor, but other then that, there are a lot of other options.

We are talking the sequal to Battlefield also. Prone is back, 64 man server, jets. Those arent things that make life easy.

it could work, I always liked how in 2142 you had the choice between standard armour and light armour

if BC2 wasn't a consoletard game, it could easily have some good depth

what do you see most now in game? ****tards using **** like magnum ammo because it basically just equates to "MOAR DAMAGE LOLOL"

In a proper game, equipping magnum ammo would do more damage yes, but it would also do something such as increasing recoil

                      etc etc etc

it would be good to have those little measures of depth as long as they are balanced

Sprint should just be a full sprint with gear on, however fast and long a soldier can sustain that. Normal speed should be briskly walking to jogging. And if you want to go slower, you can crouch walk.

Also, **** your perks, this is Battlefield.

It doesnt' really bother me on sprint. Unlimited ammo in ground transportation is fine. I see no problem with that has ammo is already easy to come by.

I think unlimited ammo in something which could be in an overpowering position is a bit much. Especially when it can carry 5 or 6 engineers who can just jump out and repair the thing 40% in about 5 seconds.

Maybe with anti air. Tanks or land vehicles..nah. Tank shells aren't "powerful" enough to be overpowering and machine gun ammo already comes in abundance. They gave way more tank shells to tanks in bf2c and I didn't even notice it for like 2 tours because it previously was never a problem.

Giving infinite ammo to fast movers and armor isn't needed but if it happens it would have extremely little impact. Giving jets infinite bombs on the other hand would be dumb.

I could see where a AAA having infinite ammo would be overpowered. He could go wrench instead of support and anyone running AAA by themselves should be support. Never had to go support in armor.
