    Re: Battlefield pride

It's funny what some people consider "bad" in this game. Sure, the Gustard is pretty lame as a primary weapon. But I had a guy say this to me last night:

That just tickled me. How many people use the SPAS on a regular basis? With any success?

Of course the guy who said it was running around with the AN-94 and spamming 40mm grenades while his team mates did the same, occasionally switching to M60s to add some spice.

      Re: Battlefield pride

I like the middle ground myself. I dont care what weapon is used as I feel its part of the game and if a game and player are worth its salt there is a counter balance to it. Some weapons get overpowered, but I dont think thats the case anymore with BC2. Yes, there are some more powerful weapons, but that doesnt mean it cant be stopped. If a server has a rule not to base rape, I wont. If the same server has people shooting you from the base, the rule is null and void.

I had a sniper complain about me getting weak kills while in the base. Basically I hid in the trees and waited for him specifically and after he fired the first shot, I would slip down to his spot and knife him. He went off on the "weak" stuff and left. He could have done a number of things different like use his motion detector to find me or move to another location or even change class or spawn at the flags. Instead, I was a weak base raper and he somehow felt being in the spawn area was some type of safe home base where he can kill and anyone killing him was base raping.

Hacks, glitches in maps, all those types of exploits are weak, but playing with what you have and doing well with it is OK to me. Someone CGs me too much and I get the RPG out and we go at it or I go sniper and pick them off at a good distance. It can get frustrating. I know someone who rage quits every time he gets a 40mm or CG. He has pretty much quit playing the game because he cant handle those types of deaths. I dont know why, I guess he is just that competitive and its a shame he let those weapons decide to take the fun out of his game. He is a great player and I think because those shots are the only thing that stops him quick, he gets mad.

I paid $ for my game and I am going to play it the way I want. Someone paid money for their server and I am going to honor those rules on it as long as they are enforced across the board. I wont use vehicles in SDM as long as no one else gets in it. First person that does, thats fine, but now its fair game.

I think thats the pride people should focus on, not if they dont use a certain weapon. There are plenty of other "cheap" tactics out their then that.

i think if this game got rid of the whole stats thing people wouldent have to resort to cg and noobtube kills and would focus more on having fun with the obscure weapons than trying to get the best kdr they can. that is why i liked playing COD4 so much because i could spend days using only the knife and having tons of fun while having the worst kdr imaginable. people put stats before fun

Well, I'm using the stats for myself in a different way. I'm working my way through every weapon in the game, stopping once I hit 1000 kills (or plat with other weapons that are at 500, whatever). So eventually I'll be trying to get that F2000 and the sniper rifles to 1k kills...
That's fun for me. Just working with each weapon until I'm good enough with it and each kit to ace often is something I like doing.

I'm working on golds first, then plat for each weapon. Agree, that is fun and a challenge to use one weapon in a variety of situations and maps.

lol I know what you mean, I was called a noob by some guy who said I used landmines too much, he was the ******* that wanted to sit at the back pounding in his bradley but kept driving into my mines lol

have even been flamed for using the 40mm shotgun lol

I was flamed for killing people with freaking smoke rounds once. Ridiculous. Now my answer is usually:
"You try it. If it's that skill less and overpowered, you try and we'll see the results."

A few people have taken me up on that with slugs. After going into the red on KDR, they switched back to their LMGs and auto-burst weapons.

There's a reason the M60, AN-94, 40mm grenade, Carl Gustav and GOL are disproportionately distributed over the battlefield compared to their counterparts.

lol yeh, I was using the AEK the other day and a guy said I should use a real assault rifle, despite the fact I was mowing

so I basically told him that he should be thankful I am not using the AN94, he said some more nasty things, so I started using it

and then the rage really began

I think a lot of people playing the game simply have this "How dare you" mentality, every 12 year old on the planet cannot handle someone shooting them especially if it isn't a point and click weapon like their precious Gustav

I don't like when everybody runs around with the latest flavor of the month after DICE has SNAFUed yet another patch, but I also dislike when people are complaining about a weapon that they haven't tried at all.

This is a big one for me. People talk about how easy and OP slugs are and how a nerf is needed, but these same people admit that they've never used them.

Pride is too strong, the word should be respect. Are you respectful of others players by not base bombing the carrier in BF2 for ex.

And you can have some pride in video games especially the competitive ones, if you're in the top 10 of Starcraft you can be proud of your skill level (and also because you're actually earning money).

Rifle, smg, shotgun, or pistol work fine for me. Why do I need to try a weapon that's unnecessary against infantry?

If you have never tried the Hot Carl how can you know if it's truly a dishonourable weapon, unless you are basing your views on "honour/pride" on how you die to it which is a little odd.

How do I know? Guess it's obvious. The only time a rocket is needed is when someone hops in armor or a firing lane needs to be opened when someone is getting repeated kills from cover. Using it beyond those parameters is overkill/unsportsmanlike/dishonorable/lame etc etc etc

Well I don't know about you guys, but I love shooting an RPG some 300m into a crowd of infantry and watching them all blow up.

Also, the RPG is the best tool against M-Coms. It's far more effective than arming a charge and you only need 8 shots.
