I'm around 1.4 I think, but I almost always go engineer. It's definitely my favourite class nothing better than harassing apcs and tanks, that and whoring armour with my flat mate. Plus the SMGs aren't that bad especially when you get the scopes.

I don't know about you, but KDR was the ONLY thing in UT. There was no other metric for success in pure deathmatch. Killing more than you died was the only way to win.

Having said that, I don't know why it's so important for people in BF games. It seems like since there are other metrics, such as your team winning or just your overall score, KDR would make less of an impact. Sure, someone who dies more than kills will hurt the team. In BFBC2 revives are treated differently, though. Many of my deaths weren't for long, as I have a very dedicated medic who runs with me. Same goes for the KDRs of everyone in my normal squad. If any of us dies, the medic fixes it. If he dies, one of us will pick up his kit and make like Jesus. Many of my teammates might have a negative KDR, but they probably didn't really hurt the tickets much with the medics running around. If anything they just help my score as I revive them.

In BFBC2, I care more about getting the highest score and winning the round, not the most kills. My KDR will follow, maybe. Maybe not, though. Right now it's at 1.52. Not too bad, not too good. My team wins quite often, though. And out of 127 rounds, I have about 50 Ace pins.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's funny because I finally decided to take a break from my Assault/Engineer kit selection and went Medic for the first time yesterday (even in beta I never went Medic). Naturally this meant I had no medkit, no defibs, and only the PKM, but I was doing well on White Pass. I loved the huge mag and not having to reload after every kill, and the gun just felt lethal. After a couple of rounds I was getting schooled by everyone, even Recons running around with M1911s would pwn me. I think it has to do with what Scinto mentioned below. I should probably take a small break after every 4-5 rounds (Conquest rounds are usually short anyway) to get my head back in the game.

Another example of the strangeness is when I knifed a medic yesterday, and yet he still managed to kill me too.
I know there is travel time for the bullets, but we were less than two meters apart.[/QUOTE]

What do you mean stop whoring vehicles? KDR, SPM, and stats in general are what created the farce known as Infantry Only mode (a.k.a. 'Karkand Without Vehicles' mode).

Re: Anyone have a 1:1 kd ratio?

One thing I've noticed recently is how much head shots hurt.

a few days ago I kept getting dropped before I could take down an opponent, usually we had the same gun, or I may have even gotten the drop on him and he was still able to turn around and kill me. Only thing I could explain it as...they were scoring head shots while I usually focus on the center of mass to make sure I hit something.

So...I switched to always aiming higher...going for the head every chance I get. Enemies drop really fast... Now my k/d is rising quite a bit, I haven't played a round where I had a k/d lower than 1.0 in a while now....

i meant people want to whore vehicles to maintain some absurd KDR. there was some dude in 2142 that would ONLY use walkers to maintain his 20-something KDR.

I'm not sure where mine is at, somewhere above 1. I don't care *that* much really, my main objective is helping the team, which involves taking big risks sometimes. Being confident in my skills however i will risk that ticket pretty often.

Hint: Lowering client side graphics settings on high end cards increases hit detection.

                    Lowering which settings, specifically?

                    Also, got any proof?

BF2 didn't start it, it just made it permanently attached to your soldier name and persistant over rounds.

I loved having score per minute in BF2142. It's always what I went by first, then KDR.

I want the BFHQ stat page back, it gave you nice lines with pretty colors and projected performance based on past data for all weapons, gadgets and actions.

Higher fps can improve hit detection, lowering settings themselves will not do anything. It's like this in every game pretty much.

True but some "Eye Candy" visual settings do blind you.

Such as bloom, explosions and gun muzzle.

I am hovering around 1.25 kd with frontline classes.
