Re: DICE's demize calls prone "crutch for campers"
Prone wasn't the problem with dolphin diving, it was the instantaneous max accuracy you got that was the problem combined with funky hit reg. BF2142 never had that problem because your accuracy took a second or two to "zero."
While I'm not throwing a fit over it's lack of inclusion, I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't have liked to see it in the game. Having played the beta there are a lot of places that even if you crouch behind cover the top of your head is still sticking out. So there will be times you think you have cover and people still have a shot on you. There are also times when you need to just be able to drop to the ground quickly to avoid an attack.
I also find demize's comments a little strange. From my play time BC2 is a slower playing game than BF2. Being able to prone wouldn't affect the gameplay much at all. You cannot get away with many of the things in BC2 that you could in BF2. This may change a little in the PC version as you will have more precise controls, but with the generally greater lethality of the guns and the movement speed I observed, you have to be much more cautious and careful than BF2. BF2 was all about never letting the momentum up and overwhelming with speed of attack. Defenese was hard to do effectively in BF2 because to be still was to be dead. Defense seemed much easier in BC2; at least to me.
